Hi,
First day back to school for my two younger sisters. I read the speech. Obama invokes the word "I" 56 times!!!!
I am sending my 14 year old sister to school with her Ipod and my 10 year old sister has no interest in anything Obama has to say, so I imagine she will be busy talking with the girls seated next to her.

If so... then how do you explain the questions that were given to teachers last month?
“What does the president want me to do?” “How can I help the president?”
Nothing in this bland “Stay in school and study hard” nothingness of a speech would lead to those questions
Even the kids are bored by the O.

I dont know how kids can help Obama , but they can help America by convincing their parents to vote for “Anyone else”.

I skimmed a posted copy of the proposed speech yesterday.
It is long and dull and typical edu-rhetoric.
I posted that most of the kids will be asleep or playing tiddly-winks before the mid-way point.

I called the WH a few minutes ago and a person answered. I was so startled I said “A real person”. She said I had to call back in 10 minutes. I told her Obama should resign, he had better not ram healthcare down our throats,that they were all communists, socialists and evil.
Over the weekend I got the message to call 9-5 M-F for a telephone recording your message?
I don’t have any problem with a 14 yr old sleeping througha presidential speech. My issue is what the NEA union member and potentially flaming liberal teacher does with a little bit of power and their authority, with the material presented in the speech.
What bothers me, is the ‘notes’, ‘pledges’ and the encouragement of the teachers to hold the students to whatever intrepretation of the speech they decide is important. Hmmmm, I wonder what could possibly happen when you give a NEA Liberal carte’ blanch with state propaganda?
The schools are failing to teach math, reading and writing skills - now they want to teach our kids ethics and morals too?

FWIW, I thought FnF missed the issue with the lesson plans that were sent out in advance of the speech. I do not for one minute believe the transcript released recently was the first version of the speech at all. There was some major editing and rewriting done.
Others at the school have ridiculed McCain and the teacher has scolded my niece's daughter while ignoring those have have ridiculed McCain.
The bad part is my niece is also a teacher at the school and says there is only one other conservative teacher at the school.
Here's the really SAD part--this is in a supposedly highly Republican, conservative area.
Today is show-down day. Pray for this little girl.

It is intersting.
Once had an engineer I knew that sued Planters. The can said a mix with less tahn 70% peanuts. He opened three cans, did a nut count, and came up with 72%. What a friggin waste of time ..(yeah and the dumb azz did it on company time to boot)
But he was the deptartments engineering guru .... he was always busy, upper magmnt loved him, casue whenever they saw him he had his LBK (look busy kit) in full form. (a notepad, screwdriver and clipboard) He was the busiest non non employee I had. Couldn’t fire him .... he had directors above me amazed.
Well that was a bit of rambling ....lol
