In a stunning display of audacity, President Obama took the opportunity of a conference call with ministers to strongly imply that his opponents were misrepresenting his healthcare plan and "bearing false witness" before reminding them that "I am my brother's keeper."

OK Mr. President... other than the fact that the majority of misrepresentation and lies seem to be coming from your White House, as far as I know the Bible never says that "I am my brother's keeper."

Genesis 4:9 asks "Am I my brother's keeper?"... but the question is unanswered. Even if the answer is YES... how does that jibe with what you're really saying... which is "Government is my brother's keeper."

Misinformation and false witness, indeed.

Whatever happened to the much talked about notion of the separation of church & state? Those same folks who have no problem violating the First Amendment by dictating to ministers to get them to comply to government policies are the same folks who assert & make a big deal that the same Amendment is violated when folks from those Church congregations try to influence government.

This is beyond creepy to me. People are always taking Genesis 4:9 out of context. When Adam first sinned against God by eating of the fruit, he blamed everyone but himself (”This woman whom you gave me...”). This sets the template for the Genesis 4 account.

The Hebrew word for keeper in Genesis 4:9 (”Am I my brother’s keeper?”) is different than the word used in 4:2, where Abel was the keeper of the sheep. It was an evil, sarcastic reply to God that he, Cain, was not the one preserving Abel. In asking the question, he was putting it back on God - the “I” would be emphasized as a taunt toward Him, as the true keeper of men, that preserving the life of Abel was God’s job.

So when a mere man declares “I am my brother’s keeper,” especially within the context that Obama used it, he is claiming a role that is not his. He is affirming his desire to control us using the “life and death” legislation that is ObamaCare.

We need a spiritual awakening and revival.

Perhaps obama is reading a different Bible than I read (almost certainly so!). I would have said that it is a sin to support the Anti-Christ, so it is a sin to support obama.
