I am sure the Eagles would have signed Adolf Hitler too, if he met the physical requirements for playing.
Philly- hide your dogs!
My prediction is the Eagles will have record attendance at games and their TV games will be highly rated. I suspect this Vick deal has been polled and focus-grouped already and they found that it will sell. The NFL would never have let him back in otherwise.
I’m getting more cynical the older I get.
I hope he’s ‘barked’ off the field each and every time he steps on it. Who let the dogs out? Indeed! He’s not sorry. He’s sorry his sorry @ss got CAUGHT!
On a brighter note, the first pre-season Packers game is on tonight. The rebuilding decade begins, LOL! :)
P.S. Teaching dogs to kill each other is not a sport!! Maybe mention it to the kids that idolize this piece of cr**.
If Vick were to donate all but $100,000 per annum of his NFL salary to the RSPCA and NOT request a tax receipt, I would believe that he is remorseful and wants to make amends.
What are the odds of him doing something like that?
Oh, goodie another change to dump on the black boy and to promote animal rights. Wackos!!!
I find the mistreatment of animals pathetic, very demeaning in extreme to the perpetrator. I find taking pleasure in killing animals depraved(hunters take note). I would never harm or watch an animal being harmed. Not even on video.
That said, animals are property. The fact that this man’s life was ruined over some dogs is indicative of where this country is right now. And conservatives here want to crucify the man. This man was in prison for two years over some animals.
PETA has triumphed. Even here at freerepublic.
Can this fakery in the PC be nominated for an Oscar?
HE IS A DOG KILLER. Dog killers just love killing dogs. They do not regret it.
I hope the man has no children.
Best line so far...
They are now and forever the Philadelphia Beagles!
I hope he’s had a real change of heart. I can’t imagine being the kind of person who takes pleasure in torturing animals. If he really HAS changed, he’s going to be feeling remorse the rest of his life and that’s punishment enough. I’m still grateful the Redskins didn’t pick him up, and our office Eagles fan is mortified.
from a falcon fan, the day they traded schaub to the texans I said, “They just traded the wrong guy”..
Michael Vick was exciting when he was in Atlanta but people didn’t pay to see him throw the ball. They paid for that one moment he’d take off and run.
Vick had (has?) one of the strongest arms in the nfl, but arm strength does NOT equate to accuracy and this guy was by no means accurate. He couldn’t hit his receivers down field which is why at the time falcon wr’s could be wide open in the endzone with no one within 10 yards and vick would force the ball to alge crumpler in triple coverage for a 4 yard gain.
The falcons would have been no better than an 8-8 team with him and roddy white would still be operating in obscurity instead of becoming one of the nfl’s elite receivers and the locker room wouldn’t be near big enough to hold his ego.
Perhaps the man is truly contrite, perhaps not. One way to see is to watch how he dresses after the game. He used to come out after the games for his press conference dressed as though he could have been out selling crack on any street corner in anytown, U.S.A. (hat on sideways, cornrows, big t-shirt etc.etc.)
Will he maintain that “thug” exterior or will he dress like a normal human being. THAT will be the way you can tell where he’s headed.
IMHO..
One of the funniest signs I have seen in a long time was one held yesterday outside of Eagles training camp (I believe). It said “Hide your Beagle, Vick’s an Eagle”.
You can “pay your debt to society” and still be a worthless POS. Serving time doesn’t necessarily improve your character...usually the opposite. Just another good reason to despise the Iggles....
I’m ok with giving Vick a second chance, not because Vick has earned or deserves it, but because Tony Dungy is putting his neck on the line for him. Tony Dungy has always been a class act worthy of respect. With Dungy mentoring Vick, I think Dungy has earned the respect to give Dungy the benefit of the doubt.
For those of you castigating Vick so viciously, I would like to ask you whether his punishment was fair as compared to Donte Stallworth who spent 24 days in jail and suspended for one year for manslaughter?
Boo
Yeah—and John Rocker, Rush Limbaugh, Al Campanis, and Jimmy the Greek—all they did was give their opinions—pretty damn accurate ones-and they were banned by the major league sport venue they were associated with—Rocker was hounded (no pun intended) worse than Vick.
I don’t understand what the difference is between Vick, and the other sociopaths who are forgiven/overlooked and the others—what could it be????
