With Eagles, Vick gets second chance
Espn ^ | 08/15/2009 | Lester Munson

A remorseful Michael Vick wants a second chance and a fresh start with the Philadelphia Eagles -- and knows he won't be easily forgiven by fans.

"I know I've done some terrible things, made a horrible mistake. Now I want to be part of the solution and not the problem," Vick said Friday, referring to his conviction for his role in running a dogfighting ring

I am sure the Eagles would have signed Adolf Hitler too, if he met the physical requirements for playing.

My prediction is the Eagles will have record attendance at games and their TV games will be highly rated. I suspect this Vick deal has been polled and focus-grouped already and they found that it will sell. The NFL would never have let him back in otherwise.

I’m getting more cynical the older I get.

I hope he’s ‘barked’ off the field each and every time he steps on it. Who let the dogs out? Indeed! He’s not sorry. He’s sorry his sorry @ss got CAUGHT!

On a brighter note, the first pre-season Packers game is on tonight. The rebuilding decade begins, LOL! :)

Remorseful??? Ask him if he'd play for $0.00! I'm so sick of these immoral money makers....and the "hero" status they achieve. They're garbage...We should be ashamed to present folks like this to our kids!! It's all about MONEY!!

P.S. Teaching dogs to kill each other is not a sport!! Maybe mention it to the kids that idolize this piece of cr**.

Vick is a great athlete who made a serious mistake, for which he’s served prison time. It’s OK with me that he be given a chance to show he’s changed. I hope most of us football fans understand that punishment is appropriate, but perpetual retribution isn’t.

But since I’m not an Eagles fan, go Bills!

If Vick were to donate all but $100,000 per annum of his NFL salary to the RSPCA and NOT request a tax receipt, I would believe that he is remorseful and wants to make amends.

What are the odds of him doing something like that?

Please! Drawing an equivalence between Michael Vick and Adolph Hitler is absurd. I'm hardly an Eagles fan. Vick took his punishment and now seems quite contrite. Denying him an opportunity to make a living just isn't right now. I say give the guy a chance. If he commits some other crime, I would show him no mercy. But for now I hope he makes a useful return to football and society (unless he's playing against the Giants).

The Law took its course, but Justice was not done.

I bet if he had fewer zeroes on his bank balance Justice might have paid him a bit more attention. He’s a slimeball and there is no way he “paid” for his offense.

“I am sure the Eagles would have signed Adolf Hitler too, if he met the physical requirements for playing.”

How antisemitic of you to equate the two.

Vick is a complete worthless POS and I hope on 11/22 when the Bears face the Eagles the Bears are whipping the Eagles so much that they take McNabb out by halftime and put this worthless POS in and the Bears pound him into the Soldier Field ground like he deserves.

Ironic that he’s signing with the Eagles. Vick did this to help his friends get into business.

Vick helps his friends start dog fighting business.

The Eagles better QB McNabb actually helped several childhood friends start businesses in retail, restaurants and such. I go to one once in awhile that he helped his childhood best friend start.

Vick wasn’t even all that great to begin with. He belongs at WR or TE or RB but his pride won’t let him do it.

McNabb is a much better quarterback. IF the Eagles were smart they’d put Vick at WR or one of the backs.

And they won’t have to face the racism charges since McNabb is black.

I find the mistreatment of animals pathetic, very demeaning in extreme to the perpetrator. I find taking pleasure in killing animals depraved(hunters take note). I would never harm or watch an animal being harmed. Not even on video.
That said, animals are property. The fact that this man’s life was ruined over some dogs is indicative of where this country is right now. And conservatives here want to crucify the man. This man was in prison for two years over some animals.
PETA has triumphed. Even here at freerepublic.

Can this fakery in the PC be nominated for an Oscar?

HE IS A DOG KILLER. Dog killers just love killing dogs. They do not regret it.

I hope the man has no children.

If he had paid and pressured a woman to have an abortion, that would not be news.
No, not an exact comparison; but shows how human life is devalued in proportion to animal life, in my opinion.

I find this outrage over Vick absolutely hilarious!

The NFL allows wife-beaters, gang-bangers, drug-pushers, etc back on the field, but somehow, because Vick abused some animals, his return is controversial.

C'mon people! Beating and abusing animals is wrong and criminal when done for fun, but how about some outrage for the players that beat their wives/girlfriends/mistresses?!
