Liberal defenders of Obama in full retreat on Birth Certificate

Progressives now say US Born requirement for Presidency should be abolished

by Eric Dondero

All of a sudden, the issue of concientious objecter Major Stefan Cook has thrust the Obama birth certificate issue into the national limelight. It’s moved from so-called “fringe” blogs and news websites such as World Net Daily, Free Republic, Gateway Pundit, Atlas Shrugs and Libertarian Republican, into the mainstream media. On Monday Fox News did a segment on it for their 5:00 pm News Hour. CNN’s Lou Dobbs covered the story yesterday. And even CBS and the LA Times have done articles on it.

And today, another Big Enchillada of the Liberal Media: National Public Radio.

Here’s the descriptive intro to the story, “Foreign Policy: Born in the USA”:

NPR.org, July 17, 2009 · The weirdly persistent belief held by many Americans that President Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States has been back in the news lately thanks to Major Stefan Cook, the “birther” soldier who was granted conscientious objector status because he refused to fight for a president he believes is illegitimate. There’s also a bill gathering some support in the House that would change election law to require candidates to prove their citizenship.

And then something rather odd happens. The NPR editorialist Joshua Keating takes an entirely new tact.

I agree completely... the use of the race card should make things interesting too considering how much the Left’s own racism has been on display lately (just look at how Boxer treated the head of the Black Chamber of Commerce)... unfortunately the media will just do whatever it can to further destroy our country

We have them on the run—keep it up in every way we can. Private detectives or concerned citizens should go to Hawaii and Kenya and find the answers. A documentary should be made. They are running scared for a reason—when the enemy retreats, don’t let them regroup! Foloow them all the way back to their capital. If Jeff Davis had let Stonewall Jackson chase the Yankee army to Washington DC after Bull Run, The south might be an independent state today.

You’ll hear a lot of back tracking likely but the cat is out of the bag. This thing is going to watergate porportions by the fall.

The case they should be making is "He's the best man for the job and the requirement should be waived for him".

But given the current state of the economy, health care and cap & trade they can not make that case. Even John McCain would have made a better president....but not by much.

They know he's a fraud so they need to debase the governing authority.

Much like Clintonites attacked Ken Starr, they now attack the Constitution.

They are knee deep in quicksand.

DEAR LEADER HAS TO HIDE ALL HIS HISTORY TO KEEP HIS JOB, AND THEY KNOW IT !!!!!!!!!!

This should be an amendment on every bill Barry attempts to ram through congress. Who knows? They don't read what they vote on anyway - it just might pass!

And the law was put in place to stop divided loyalties from affecting the president’s decision-making.

This from “The Obama File”:

Get Out Of War Free Card

Vox Day says the case of the missing birth certificate grows more and more curious. It has been fascinating to see how quickly various news sites have been frantically altering their assertions regarding Obama’s birth hospital ever since Jerome Corsi broke the news of Barack Obama’s letter to the Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children on July 6. This means that Obama was either born twice in Hawaii, or he was not born at Queen’s Medical Center, as he claimed in 2007 when he first announced his presidential candidacy in Springfield, Ill.

The attempt of the Obama administration to confuse the issue by substituting a computerized Certification of Live Birth for an actual Certificate of Live Birth — which contains information about the birth hospital as well as the signature of the attending physician or midwife — has failed.

While numerous attempts to clarify the historical record have been successfully fought by the administration’s lawyers, the issue became much more serious when Maj. Stefan Cook, a U.S. Army reservist with deployment orders to Afghanistan, filed a lawsuit regarding his questions about the legality of a deployment order based on the command of a potentially illegitimate commander in chief. But rather than contesting the suit, the Army took the highly peculiar step of revoking the major’s deployment order, suggesting that the Pentagon generals are not entirely confident that they can demonstrate the legitimacy of their purported commander in chief.

The doubts this action raised about Obama’s legitimacy were further increased when Maj. Cook was almost immediately fired from his civilian job at a private defense contractor, reportedly due to pressure from a federal agency under the Department of Defense, the Defense Security Services Agency. Although the obvious purpose of revoking the deployment order was to render the lawsuit moot, the firing only provides Maj. Cook with additional ammunition for broadening the scope of his lawsuit now that he has suffered demonstrable material damages.

Maj. Cook has already been joined in his lawsuit by two other soldiers, a retired Army two-star general and an active reserve Air Force lieutenant colonel. But the potential consequences of the major’s revoked deployment go far beyond the number of American soldiers with doubts about the legitimacy of orders from their nominal commander in chief. The Pentagon’s decision to back down rather than risk exposing Obama’s birth records to the public means that every single American soldier, sailor, pilot and Marine now holds a “get out of war free” card. Not only every deployment order, but every order issued from an officer in the line of command can now be challenged in the knowledge that the top brass are afraid to respond for fear that their commander could be exposed for a fraud.

Given the number of sea and barracks lawyers in the various branches of the U.S. military, it seems unlikely that it will take very long for servicemen who are disinclined to accept an unpalatable or dangerous order to figure out how to best make use of this useful little veto. If even a small number of soldiers elect to do so, the effect on military discipline could rapidly become catastrophic.

It is hard to comprehend why Obama has been so obsessively secretive about his personal records, but it is now time for him to call off his lawyers and show the American public his cards. It would be the height of irresponsibility for the commander in chief of the U.S. armed forces to be the source of destroying American military discipline. Permitting such an easily preventable situation to develop would very strongly imply that the man is not only ineligible for the office, but unfit for it as well.

The question about the Obama birth certificate is no longer one of conspiracy theory or hypothetical illegitimacy, as it now threatens to become a very serious military matter. Regardless of whether Barack Obama was born at the Kapi’olani Medical Center, at the Queen’s Medical Center, in Kenya or in a manger, the issue will have to be conclusively settled in the near future.

It is one thing for Obama to deny the curiosity of the American public by hiding behind the courts. It is very much another for him to deny the right of the men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, who are sworn to risk their lives upholding the Constitution of the United States of America, to be certain their orders are legitimate.

Where is the birth certificate?

Saw about 6 different posts on the birth certificate on my facebook from my Los Angelos friends (who are uberliberal). Everyone showed a photograph from Factcheck.org and mentioned how demented folks are that don’t believe he has ‘shown’ his birth certificate.

Got some pretty strong messages when I said I wonder if the DMV will accept a photograph of my birth certificate and social security card to replace my drivers license, or if the government agency might want the actual thing. Because “factcheck.org” is the ONLY place that claims to have seen it.

No one could answer WHY he wouldn’t show it to a court? Million dollars in legal fees just because he ‘don’t wanna’?

That is why there is such a rush to push major bills through congress. Once this officially breaks the Dems are stewed.

Does anyone remember the name of the guy who worked for Inhofe that owned the address in the birth announcement.
I read something on this recently. Did he let them live in this cottage in the back or was it used for the announcement.
What connections did this guy have that owned the place.

Well, well, well, this is really getting juicy now isn’t it????? Monica Lewinsky all over again.

First its just ignore completely, then mock and ridicule and hurl that dreaded ‘racist’ word around, now retreat and claim the constitution should be changed it ‘just isn’t fair’.

Do I detect a note here of admitting Obama doesn’t qualify???? Hmmmm????

Per Joshua Keating:

“Let’s imagine that Barack Obama had been born in Indonesia or Kenya or anywhere else for that matter, and hadn’t become a citizen until moving to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. Is there one good reason why that would make him less fit to be president?”

This is what I would say to Mr. Keating and any who agree with him:

The constitution of the United States allows amendments to be enacted. If you truly believe that the place of birth for a U.S. President is irrelevant, then you are free to make your case and work with others for an amendment to that end. Although I disagree with you, I fully support your right to work for such an amendment. Until such an amendment is enacted, the constitution stipulates that the President of the United States must be a natural born citizen.

But they will just respond that the constitution is a “living and breathing document” and our current era make such a requirement “archaic” so who cares what the text says.... their BS is unbelievable
