News is out tonight that long-time CBS News Anchorman Walter Cronkite has died at the age of 92 . . . . Cronkite was the news for several generations of Americans. It was a five-night a week tradition at my house to sit down and watch the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite. In his later years, Cronkite revealed a very strong liberal bent, far more so than was obvious in his newscasts, although he certainly leaned toward the Democrats. But his face and voice will always be synonymous with the news. Below is video of one of his most famous moments, when he announced the death of President John F. Kennedy, on November 22, 1963 . . . One of the most destructive propagandists in American history. My sympathy goes out to those who loved him and have experienced a sense of loss.
Where do traitors go when they die?
Should have been shot for treason years ago he could have covered it till the order to fire was givin POS
He should have a lot to answer for to the Almighty . . . can’t say I’m saddened at all by this news . . .
Who cares. He is just an old man. He should have submitted to end his life years ago.
Rest in peace Walter.
Well, until they're finally planted in the cold cold ground, their caskets make wonderful soapboxes for Liberal politicians.
Good riddance .
Proof that you can outlive your reputation. He left the air so long ago that there are many people who ether never saw him, or only saw the twilight of his career. I think he is forever linked to an era of “3 networks and only 3 networks” and this position of “oracle” of network news is now understood to be a function, not of his greatness as a journalist/tv anchorman, but of the paucity of choices in news media back “in the day”. I’m saying his reputation was undeserved - a function of being the first to do something for which there were no standards.
He’s lucky he died before Obama care set in.
I’m obviously in the minority here, but these are some pretty harsh comments. Yes, he was a liberal in his personal beliefs but with few exceptions, he adhered to a standard of journalism that has been lost. Everyone has personal beliefs, it’s whether they allow them to affect the way they do their job that counts.
I’m not defending him, I didn’t know him personally, but when I think of how what we now call the MSM has damaged this country and continues to do so day after day, I’d welcome the likes of Uncle Walter back into the anchor chair.
ML/NJ
He would’ve survived Obama care — he is one of the elites.
The world kept on turning after he retired, and will keep on turning now that he’s dead. How important does that make him?
And, he won’t get a fraction of the coverage given to the child molester who just died.
Here comes another Michael Jackson type over play to hide the impending danger of Obama’s policies. Cronkite was a commie in his own right they will use his death as a tool to slide these things through.
Should be Christian but, I’m so glad that this commie bastard’s dead. He has the blood of every man & woman who died in Vietnam on his hands. Hope he has a good explanation for St. Peter.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
Burn baby burn.
Great, this gives the Communist News Network(s) an excuse to not cover what is most important to the american people, the economy and the Kenyan in the WH.
Say hello to Pol Pot Howard and all the communist leaders of Vietnam you gave aid and comfort to.
In 1968, Cronkite single-handedly turned the Tet offensive victory into a US loss in the eyes of the American public. Walter Cronkite, America’s most respected journalist at that time, suggested that America wasn’t winning the war. It was inaccurate, but no matter, it created the first significant crack in President Johnson’s belief that he could win both the war and re-election.
Growing reluctance in America to support a war we weren’t winning led Nixon to pull the troops out...and the Democrats reneiged on their promise to contiue supporting the South Vietnamese with arms.
R.I.P. Walter Cronkite - pathetic traitor and patriarch to the current MSM.
