On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.
If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.
First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaskas best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.
For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and theres much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier Ive never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.
The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the politics of personal destruction. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; its about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because its right for all, including your family.
I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; Ive never thought I needed a title before ones name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!
God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference with you!
Sarah
Let’s let JimRob know that we’ve started the Palin dose thread....There is a link on the front page....Would it be appropriate for us to use that?
God bless FR! God bless Sarah! God bless America!
Woo Hoo!
This will be fun to watch her use her Journalism background to drive the media NUTS.
You mean Romney the man who registered as an Indy when President Reagan was in office? Then runs for office in 2008 and tries to get the Reagan mantle but Michael Reagan was not buying.
That is an AWESOME idea. I am more then ready for the Palin Dose Thread.
Told someone this morning they should start a Daily Palin Prayer Thread for her as well. I would join that one unlike one for ZERO.
I am looking forward to that clean-up happening! My optimism has totally returned with her announcement and today’s 4th of July wishes.
“...and it always feels good to do what is right.”
Funny thing, that. When you do what is RIGHT and Good, you don’t have to make up straw man or lame excuses to cover your tracks! God. Family. Country. Duh! It really IS that simple to be a PATRIOT!
“Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.”
What’s NOT to love about this woman? :)
I just burst out laughing at the “And I think well have a FEWwww more gentlemen on the Dose this time around, too ;-)”
I bet you are correct.
Double whammy with political science minor.....tee hee. Besides she’s brilliant and she with Todd’s support will do what’s right.
What I am seeing tonight on here is humor returning and a sense that we are heading in the right direction now with Sarah’s announcement.
This is going to be fun as she uses that Double Whammy!
The outpouring of support on this site has made day and the thought of a Sarah Daily Dose makes me smile.
I told someone they can now go campaign in Michigan since she wasn’t allowed to do that during the campaign!
We have a leader who understands. Who thinks as we do and is not just manipulating the system. Sarah gets it!
BUT,
It’s not just here...I’ve told several people earlier. About an hour after the announcement, went to my local farmers market. Someone came in and announced “Sarah is running for President” The place went crazy...all sorts of positive chatter smiles etc....The only think that I can compare it to is the day after our Katie was named Miss America....Same positive upbeat, JOY!
My sis is a hockey mom in Michigan...They just couldn’t understand why they didn’t show up.
That is AWESOME! Middle America gets it and now it is up all of us to help get her elected.
When I heard they wouldn’t let her campaign in MI, couldn’t believe it and then to be told Romney was going there instead made zero sense and still does. Bad campaign.
Book learning instead of common sense......Some polysci person thought that was the way it was suppose to happen.
Common Sense has been missing from the GOP in recent years and I think one reason Sarah has such support because she does have common sense.
Fantastic animation of Sarah on “Independence Day.” Her timing wasn’t random! Happy Independence, Sarah.

Sarah Palin: "I thank him for his kind, insightful comments."

Sarah has, apparently studied her Shakespeare:
Marc Antony: "For Brutus is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men-- "
Thank you PL and Sarah!
Happy Independence Day!!!
:^D

I've been thinking along those lines ever since Rush said he had been up into the wee hours, "Working on something really big"...

"And, now, from the chilly Northern Command: Sarah Palin!!!"
LOL!!!
