As many of us learned from the 1978 comedy classic Animal House, vegetables can be very sensual (while people are sensuous). However, the magical combination of gorgeous girls and fresh vegetables is not getting a whole heck of a lot of love from NBC - the network broadcasting Super Bowl XLIII on Sunday. In fact, they have said no to a commercial from - of all places - PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals).
The organization known for (among other things) the "Holocaust On Your Plate" campaign and the push to rename fish "sea kittens" is being told by NBC that cuts are going to have to be made to the controversial spot before it is allowed to hit the air during the game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
From PETA's website:
Apparently, NBC has something against girls who love their veggies. After we submitted our proposed Super Bowl ad, which features a comely crop of models demonstrating their fondness for fresh produce, NBC nixed the ad, saying it "depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards." No joke, this is straight from NBCso stop fondling your fruit salad right now and read the list of shots NBC requested we cut before theyd reconsider:

Maybe they’ll take a commercial from PETA (People for Eating Tasty Animals).
Vegetarian happy HAPPY meal.

PETA is a PITA!
Well at least it isn’t a sensual ad involving livestock :P
I thought it was a good commercial. If they can sexualize beer and dot.com sites, why not sexualize vegatables. It did not cross any line that wasn’t already crossed by GoDaddy commercials.
Not impressed at all.
Nah,
That is only seen in Iran
(And I am off the market. Lips that refuse meat will never touch mine!) /back-at-ya double-entendre>
Cheers!
I don’t know what is more surprising... That PETA may actually have come up with something that would get people’s attention and that they may actually remember... Or that NBC has standards.
Yep, what good is a woman that doesn’t eat meat? /rimshot
I think we need a new group - Society for the Ethical Treatment of Vegetables.
I’m sick and tired of reading about people like PETA telling folks they should eat vegetables.
Carrots have feelings too!!! So do cabbages!!!! Imagine how fruit trees feel when we tear away their fruits!!!!
Well, I’m a vagitarian.
