President Orders Gitmo Prisoners “Redeployed”
A Semi-News/Semi-Satire from AzConservative ^ | 24 Jan 2009 | John Semmens

Posted on 01/25/2009 10:18:58 AM PST by John Semmens

In one of his first acts as president, Barack Obama fulfilled his campaign promise to close down Gitmo—the prison for the war-on-terror’s illegal enemy combatants at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba.

In his executive order, President Obama declared that “these victims of the Bush Administration have suffered enough. We’ve got to bring an end to the cycle of hostility and reprisals. These men were enemies to a regime that no longer exists. I am offering an olive branch of peace in the hope that it will bring about a change in feelings and attitudes between our country and those we have offended over the last eight years.”

“The disposition of the prisoners will vary on a case-by-case basis,” the order read. “In situations where there is sufficient evidence of a crime committed in the United States, individuals will be brought to trial in U.S. courts. Individuals whose only action was to wage war on the American forces occupying Afghanistan and Iraq will be released as a gesture of good will and a sign that we will ‘turn the other cheek’ if that is what it takes to defuse the cycle of violence.”

In a move seen to be “pay back” to a key Democratic constituency, all of the prisoners were granted standing in U.S. courts for the purpose of suing the government and selected individuals of the former Bush Administration for damages, including pain and suffering. The American Trial Lawyers Association has prepared a contact list of attorneys ready and willing to assist “any aggrieved party.”

Nice work. And so close to the truth that it’s scary.

Happy Sunday, JS!

Let's reopen Joliet and 'redeploy' all the rabble there. I'm sure Big Mullah's constituents ought to be grateful for that economic stimulus package.

Thanks, Calpernia. Does this mean US citizens have standing, too?

Ping.

John Semmons = The New Dr. Seuss.

I don’t know how well you know Dr. Seuss outside of Green Eggs and Ham; but he started out as a political satirest.

Some historical Seuss for you:

I don’t even have the words for this. I am stunned and shocked. The only thing I can say is that this man is pure evil.

Even though this is satire, I would not be shocked in the least if this became true

Good morning Lucy!

John is a satirist.....(aren't you, John?) just poking fun at Obama's exective order.

Does this mean US citizens have standing, too?

Ahhh....no, not really. US citizens haven't an a priori case that proves the alleged terrorists held at Gitmo have actually caused harm to them. Because the reports of terrorism perpetrated on the US and it's citizenry, its buildings and military units was reported in the MSM, they have been dismissed as 'hearsay'. Jurists and jurors are to disregard them in their deliberations and just stick to the facts.

I doubt it. I suppose stupid is a good 'excuse' for giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war, though.
