The past 2 months have been hard for me...it’s difficult to describe other than that I have this sense of profound nostalgia and of being disconnected from the people around me. I realized that I don’t actually share many of the same values as many other Americans, although I like to think we still agree on all of the big picture stuff. I think that being sick with pneumonia for over a month gave me a lot of time slow down and reflect on what I want out of life. A lot of my friends are getting the hell out of dodge and DC is in this bizarre state of euphoria...I’ve never seen masses of people like this so happy. It’s totally weird.

I enjoyed your post...but was a bit surprised at the ending. My experience since election night has been different. I've been noticing a lot of what I would call depression going on around me...in stores, in restaurants, just everywhere. Everywhere.

I'm not watching TV so maybe I am missing the main stream media having their Obama orgasms, etc., but I am not seeing any joy out here in muddville. For sure.
