I hate to rain on anyone's parade here, but the only way to know for sure when and where Stanley Dunham was married is to see a certified genuine copy of her original Marriage Licenses on record in Hawaii -- assuming that she actually had one for Obama Sr. to begin with. (BTW, a copy of the marriage license was not a required document to get a divorce, as explained below).

Back in 1961, common-law marriages (marriages w/o a marriage license needed) were still recognized as legitimate unions. Basically, all it would take is for Dunham and Obama to simply shack up together for while and refer to themselves as a "married couple."

Also, the immigration laws at the time were extremely lax about immigrants marrying US citizens as a fast track to get a Green Card and to become lawful permanent residents.

Short of a DNA test, we have no way of knowing who is Obama Jr's biological father, and without that vault original birth certificate, we don't know what parent names were put on that certificate, where he was born, and when (The date, August 4, 1961, may be true, but it is far from being etched in stone).

There is another problem with this assumed paternity, and that is Obama Jr. looks much more like Malcolm X or Frank Marshall Davis than he looks like Obama Sr.

Now, there may have actually been a civil ceremony, but that, in and of itself, does not make the "Daddy was Obama Sr" scenario a slam dunk.

Far from it. Stanley Ann Dunham was three months pregnant when she married Obama Sr, and given her devious past history, there is a better than chance likelihood that this was a "shotgun wedding," i.e., that she entrapped Obama Sr. into marrying her whether it was his kid or someone else's.

Let's face facts here. In 1961, there was a big-time stigma to becoming a single teenage mom. In most rural parts of the country, she'd be run out of town on a rail. This is also the reason why a lot of teenagers got married, or as they used to say back then, "The father did the right thing."

Then again, you had a "Guess who's coming to dinner" scenario as well. As for which states in the US were mixed marriages most tolerated, the top three choices are Hawaii, Hawaii, and Hawai. The fact that whites were a minority group in Hawaii had a lot to do with their acceptance level, as native Hawaiians would be far less tolerant to a "Haole" marrying one of their own.

I look at the Dunham-Obama as a "Marriage of convenience," and I'm not alone in this view. If you were a teenage mom back in 1961, the only way to avoid the stigma was to find someone to marry, if not the sperm donor himself.

Now, if Dunham was impregnated by another black man, she would be looking to marry a black man, and the traditional tale of (a) boy meets girl, (b) boy and girl settle down, and (c) boy and girl make a baby would be the same, except that (c) would come before (b) and would read, "different boy" and girl make baby.

What I can say, for sure, is that Barack Hussein Obama II has never proven when, where, and to whom he was born, and that he committed felony document fraud to cover it up. He's deceived the American voter into believing that he was born in Hawaii as the biological child of Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Hussein Obama I. Even if the document were real, he still could not use it to prove his natural-born status.

What the forgery does prove, however, is the extent to which someone would break the law in order to become President, and that fact alone should disqualify him from any public office, let alone the President.

"often had their children away from home"

True and right on about the stigma of out-of-wedlock pregnancy also. In 1960 an acquaintance of mine (age 17) was pregnant and, before she was showing, went to an aunt's 200 miles away to have the baby. He/she was adopted, and the mother came back to a different high school in our city and completed her degree.

An excerpt from The Obama Timeline.
http://www.colony14.net/id41.html

In 1960, Dunham emphasized her “free spirit” with this statement to high school friends, “I don’t need to date or marry to have children.” Teacher Wichterman later recalled that Dunham would question anything, asking “What’s so good about democracy? What’s so good about capitalism? What’s wrong with communism? What’s good about communism?” [408,527,612]

Dunham was apparently a “free spirit” sexually. One former friend said that “She couldn’t be the girl you went steady with, but she could be the one you spent time with.” That friend was not alone in that opinion. Dunham was also known to engage in inter-racial relationships; friend Susan Blake said that Dunham never dated “the crew-cut white boys.” [564,614]

Shortly after Dunham’s high school graduation in 1960, the family had abruptly left Washington and moved to Hawaii, where she briefly attended the University of Hawaii. Taking his daughter with him to Hawaii was perhaps Stanley Armour Dunham’s way of keeping an eye on her; he may have been reluctant to leave her behind at the University of Washington, after at least one “false pregnancy” scare. At the University of Hawaii in her freshman year, Dunham was described as shy and reluctant to participate in classroom discussions; out of the classroom she was friendly with the boys, frequently flirting and repeatedly touching them. [558,564]

Knowing of her sexual reputation, Obama, Sr. supposedly told Dunham, “It’s not mine” when she informed him, in December of 1960, that she was pregnant. Obama, Sr.’s classmates knew he had a wife in Africa. [564]

Dunham’s acquaintances recall that they often had difficulties knowing when she was telling the truth. One remarked that, “She would make you believe anything while you were face-to-face but, a few minutes after she’d leave, you’re realize what she said wasn’t very… realistic or true,” explained one. Another friend recalls joining Dunham for dinner with her parents. Dunham tells an incredible story about a car accident; her skeptical mother lets her finish the story and then says, “That never happened.” [564]

One birth theory speculates that Dunham’s parents were disturbed by the news of the pregnancy (understandably, considering the scandal an unwed pregnancy would bring in 1961), and likely tried to persuade her to give the child up for adoption and then claim she had miscarried. There is speculation that Dunham left Hawaii and gave birth to Obama in Washington State (or perhaps Canada) at a facility for unwed mothers, and then decided to keep the baby. She returned to Hawaii, registered the child’s birth, claiming the child was born at home in Hawaii (thus resulting in two different birth certificates for Obama), and then promptly visited a friend in Seattle that same month, August of 1961. Her friend recalls having to show Dunham how to change the diaper. Dunham collects food stamps for a time. [564]

Almost immediately after giving birth to Obama in 1961, Dunham returns to Washington State to attend the University of Washington, leaving her infant to be cared for by her mother, and leaving Obama, Sr. at the University of Hawaii. [527]

Thay have done far worse than thumb their noses at We The People. That thumbing their noses at us is what they did witht eh impeachment of sinkEmperor clintton, and they did not remove the criminal bastard because the Republican leadership wanted a wounded president to run against rather than an established Al Goreghoul.

What the elected representatives have done this time is make themselves complicit int he abrogation of our Constitutional Contract which existed between We The People and the bastards playing ruler in Washington as the 'federal government.' The Republican representatives think so poorly of those who sent them to Washington that they have decided it is they who rule us, removing our sovereignty by ignoring OUR CONTRACT. Not one of the cowardly Republicans could muster enough regard for the Constitution to stand and at least demand the eligibility clause be upheld. NOT ONE! You and I used to be the sovereigns of this Constitutional Republic. We are no longer and if this affirmative action liar is sworn in by a subpreme court judge, there will no longer be a Constitutional Republic.

Part of me can't help but think “that poor child”.

Had a dear friend who became engaged to a gentle man who's parents were of mixed heritage.....After some long discussions and many tears they decided they both wanted children, but would NEVER put a child through what her fiance had experienced his entire life.....(and he had loving support of both parents.)...They broke their engagement

Needs to be repeated....Again!

"Let me also say that I remain distressed that the White House during this confirmation process, which overall went smoothly, failed to provide critical documents as part of the record that could have provided us with a better basis to make our judgment with respect to the nomination. This White House continues to stymie efforts on the part of the Senate to do its job. I hope with the next nominee who comes up for the Supreme Court that the White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of every single nominee who comes before us."

Common Law marriages were recognized in most U.S. states until in a given state they were specifically outlawed. They are still legal in the District of Columbia, for example, because of what is now the District being carved out of Maryland when they were legal there. But in Maryland itself they have now been outlawed.

Well said. And Dan Rather’s letter abot GWB and the national guard was real too, since Buckhead didn’t post his real name, address and degrees earned at which universities - and no photo!

Someone should call Rather and apologize.

The very end sentence which speculates Ann returned to HI and left Jr with her mother is completely wrong! Ann had Jr with her in WA the entire time she was there. People aren’t looking at what is known about Madelyn at the time, specifically that by the end of 1962 she was made manager of the entire escrow/mortgage department at Bankoh. We also know from the excerpt by Michael Patrick Lehay posted at the Christian Faith and Reason website(unaccessible for some reason today) that former classmates of Ann testified that Jr was with Ann while she was in WA state as late as in the fall of 1962. Amongst those friends was one John Hunt who was a frequent visitor.
Also the matter regarding the food stamps has never been given a date let alone whether it was actually true or yet another instance of Jr trying to connect with the “great, unwashed masses.” The state of HI participated in a pilot food stamp program which took place between 1959 and 1964 when it was implemented as part of Johnson’s “Great Society program”.

Usually there’s a time requirement for common law marriage. In California it is, or used to be, seven years.

You are correct. And there also must be a “holding out” as man and wife.

Short of a DNA test, we have no way of knowing who is Obama Jr's biological father...

IMO that's why the medical records have not been provided other than the reported letter from his doctor that apparently maintains he is in good health. Medical records would contain blood group information that would blow the obama snr paternity out of the water...and negate the carefully constructed mythos of 'Dreams From My Father' -
