My son was playing on Nick Jr.'s Free Draw making a Christmas tree and when he went to write 'merry Christmas' The program would not allow him to type the word Christmas on his drawing. The error message was "Word Blocked" (also blocked where the words and phrases: Savior, Pope, Blessed virgin Mary, St. Nick, Hark the herald angels sing, Silent night, Away in the manger, no crib for his head, and even 'Obama is the AntiChrist', but I think it was because of the word Christ, not Obama, because I was able to write his name alone.)
I was able to type in muhammed, Hanukkah, Eid and Kwanzaa and anything pagan like Yule, Beltaine, Samhain etc. So it seems that only the Christian celebration of this season is unacceptable. I quickly sent emails to Nick Jr. and Viacom Inc. which owns the brand as well as TV Land, Paramount Pictures, CMT and many others.

I’d like to see that bob
not that I doubt you but it didn’t work for me
It’s the perfect adult-child relationship. 2,000 miles between us and she can’t contact me without your permission. Now to find a girlfriend with the same setup. LOL
Buddha is blocked
Sorry for the mispelling
God or man not welcome at Nickjr
No need to apologize I just wondered how it would work with the ‘h’ in it. Neither God, gods nor man should welcome Nickjr in their homes.
Maybe Nick Jr. is running a pilot test in Tennessee, you know, to see if people there really do believe in Christ....
(100% sarcasm, my friend)

I personally tried it out and it blocked Merry Christmas, but not Kwanzaa, it blocked Christian and bible, but not Moslem and Quaran.
It did block wicca, but not wiccan terms.
I found that George Bush is blocked, as well as the individual terms, George, and Bush, but not Obama, John, Mark or Matthew.
What a horrible commercial.
I noticed on the site that there’s a “countdown to the holiday” in December. Of course the holiday isn’t named, but it looks like it falls on December 25. Gee, I wonder what their agenda is.
Here's a screenshot from my work computer. When I try it at home, I get the "Sorry, word blocked."
Gabz HAD a "Mom" ping list up until this weekend when her computer committed suicide :(
Yes it is! And to show it to little children got me so mad. IMHO that is a future terrorist. There was something sickly looking about that child too.
LOL. I never saw that ad before. Thanks for the link. That kid looks and sounds evil. Reminds me of Damien in The Omen or Macaulay Culkin in The Good Son.
Thanks, Tennessee Bob! That’s interesting. I wonder what’s blocking the words on our home computers that your work computer overrides. And why are certain unrelated terms blocked (God, Jesus, Christmas, George, George Bush, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Allah) while others like Islam and Kwanzaa are not?
Maybe someone goofed. Otherwise, I’m stumped.
You’re right, sometimes Nickelodeon does seem like MTV Jr.
I had seen it on other tv stations. But when I saw it on Nick I was mad as h-ll & I let them know it. I got every mom I knew to call them. I don’t know if it worked as I refused to let her watch Nick anymore. That child is scary & IMHO is brainwashed or plan evil. I love children but if that little snot came near me I would try my best to keep it away.
You were right to call, Pandy. There’s something wrong if a child can type “Happy Kwanzaa,” but “Merry Christmas” is banned.
I’m thinking it has to do with how our network is interfacing with their system - maybe it’s not letting what I’ve done be seen by Nick’s systems or something. Who knows.
I won't buy Nick toys or products. As a matter of fact I am sticking to buying made in the USA & did last year as much as I could.
I readily admit to knowing very little about how computers work. (I’m married to a programmer, and he takes care of the computers here. I only use them.) ;-) But, your explanation makes sense to me.
That commercial is so weird, I had to watch it again. The little brat is threatening people. I can see why you didn’t like the ad.
What made me more cautious about Nick or even Nick Jr. was a TV program Linda Ellerby did once for Nick talking to kids about “gay” issues. No, my kids didn’t watch it, but I read about it before it aired. I have explained to my sons that Nick is slanted and pointed out the bias election coverage on its website.
