How did you get the Type option? My version only shows the brush option and no way to enter words.

Click on the toolbox on the bottom of the box and click on tools. There will all sorts of options for types of brushes and crayons. Click on the “A” and that gives the text tool.

However, if a kid wants to write his name on his artwork, the name "Christopher" is blocked as well.

I misspelled “Christ” reversing the ‘i’ and ‘r’. It was allowed.
