It's for our own good
And it will be an Orwellian Police State, too: Thoughtcrime is already subject to ostracism and vilification, and what with the UN ready to codify it, and Obama signaling that he wants to increase the importance and influence of the UN, how long will it stay out of the U.S.?
And why is this necessary? Primarily "to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack." Of course, to call the Muslim community in America to account and compel it to stop teaching Sharia supremacism and hatred of Jews and Christians -- that would be "bigoted." Of course, to halt Muslim immigration in light of the impossibility of distinguishing peaceful Muslims from actual and potential jihadists -- that would be racist. Of course, even to institute some kind of screening of Muslims who enter the country in order to determine their adherence to Sharia principles and to make agitation for Islamic law (stonings, amputations, no free speech, no freedom of conscience, etc.) in this country grounds for deportation -- that would be "Islamophobic."
So if we can't do all that or even anything close to those things, what is left? What can we do? Why, become a Police State, with armed troops roaming

By 2011, when this comes about, Obama will have expunged all conservatives of any kind from the leadership of the Armed Forces ala Bill Clinton.
Absolutely true, but unfortunately, it is this administration that is giving this authority to the next president.
Shouldn’t we contact our representatives about this?
On top of Bill Clinton’s “100,000 cops”?? Wow. Such numbers.
Seeds for a second civil war.
Is this in addition to Obama’s BlueShirts?
Freedom is lost. Better we have mass death in the streets than dare to call these Muslim fanatics the extremists they clearly are and meet the problem head on and deal with this deadly threat in a forcefully effective manner.
At least we can still do so on FR....for now.
I don't have a problem with the use of the military in matters of national security and defense, within or without our borders. In fact, protection of our sovereignty at the borders would be a great use of military might.
As for Posse Comitatus, that was an unconstitutional power grab by congress and an illegal ceding of power by the executive 130 years ago.
hussein won't let a little thing like the law get in the way of his ascension to the emperor's throne.
I've got a sick feeling jug-ears plans to build his throne from a pile of corpses like his soul-brother mugabe did.
Heck, the thought police are already all over the place, with lawyers to back them up.
Here is the Army Times concerning these troops. It isn’t like this person is reporting:

As it has been said, this will make a new civil war a reality.
The proposal basically sets standards for upkeep and appearance and gives town officials the right to enter homes. If the owner refuses to allow the official to enter, the town can go to a judge for an "administrative search warrant" to allow access to the interior of buildings. Violations would cost up to $250 a day.
I was amazed it flew through without resistance. I bet most don’t even know it exist.
“we already have a Police State”
Yes. The Police State is necessary to enforce the Welfare State.
Remember that Clinton supposedly added 50,000 new police officers. Apparently they aren’t out on the streets enforcing the law. Many of them are sitting in front of computer screens, watching...what? who?
The first deployment began on Oct. 1, 2008 by the 3rd Infantry Divisions 1st Brigade Combat Team....
Brigade homeland tours start Oct. 1

My papers, please? Ugh. To help prevent terrorism? I’m struggling to see how this force would have deterred the 9/11 terrorists. 20,000 uniformed troops. Alrighty then...
20,000 troops? That’s chump change.
We got over 50,000 right here at Ft Bragg, thousands more Marines out on the coast and a few thousand airman at Seymore Johnson AFB.
Also noticed 6,000 of the 20,000 is Chem/Bio/Nuke teams from the Reserves and NG.
Better to have a plan and not need it than to need it and not have the plan.
