In response to a shift in polling numbers that saw his once huge lead evaporate in the wake of the nomination of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for the vice-presidency at the Republican National Convention, Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (Ill) appears to be seeking to lower the bar.
I think, that all things considered, a second place finish for the first Black presidential nominee running against a war hero would be a pretty darned good showing, Obama suggested. Thats a guaranteed a silver medal. And Im still young. I can try again in four years.
The Illinois senator compared himself favorably to previous Black presidential contenders. Its farther than Jesse The Castrator Jackson ever got, Obama boasted. And Al Sharpton couldnt even win a senate seat in three tries. So, Im pretty proud of myself regardless of how November goes.

I don’t recall Obama ever having a huge lead over McCain. Of course if Obama is up by 4 points its a huge lead. If McCain is up by 4 points, its a slight lead.

Zer0bama’s problems are just starting. There will not be another run in 2012 if he finishes second this year. He still needs to get reelected in 2010 to his Senate seat. As his negative numbers go up, reelection and a subsequent run again sounds like a John Edwards redux....

This from someone who never comes second. As for trying again in four years, I doubt it.

If McCain is up by 4 points, its a slight lead. No, no, that's a dead heat or a tie.

I hate when satire gets lumped in with legitimate news. It should have its own area. At the very least it should say satire in the title. jmo

Obama after what you did to the Clintons you will be lucky to win a second term in the Senate. They want you gone gone gone and I would bet that they will be more than willing to go after your Senate seat to make sure there is no competition in 2012.

I'd be okay with Obama getting that.
Then, he could join the club with other silver medalists: Kerry, Gore, Mondale, Dukakas, etc.
Yep. That would be fine.

The bad thing is that those that do swallow it, may send it on to people and then republicans look like idiots, but, maybe that was the intent. Who knows.
