DenverWith a recent move to relegate peaceful protestors beneath the Denver homeless population, Re-create 68 has now vowed that there will indeed be a bloodbath at the Democratic National Convention should they try to keep them fenced in.
The American Civil Liberties Union and several advocacy groups have filed an amended complaint to their lawsuit, stating that their First Amendment rights have been violated by security restrictions.
What the hell do they think we are? Barnyard animals, asked Tom Mestnik, a member of The Re-create 68 Alliance, an umbrella group organizing the protesters. Theyre giving the homeless a free pass while were being shoveled away like excrement! If they want dissent, well give them a Boston Tea Party theyll never forget!

My only thought is that it had more to do with a power struggle within the Democratic Party, and far less to do with hating Nixon.
Of course you have a much broader view of history than I do, and could probably reflect back on exactly why it happened. There is, also, the possiblity that the Republican convention security was far greater with a less likely approach to appease the wackos.
We shall see indeed, Robwin. Thanks for posting and reading. I do appreciate it.
I’m sorry for ruining it, trisham. I know that the thought of hospitalized liberals is exciting, but you can take solace in the fact that because of conservatism we have an Independence Day.
That’s all I can offer you. I’m deeply, deeply sorry. :-)
Thanks for reading. I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it.
No not required, but the point is - they certainly don’t want one NOW!
I'm looking forward to the convention. I hope your words will prove to be prophetic.
When the web first came online, there was a 1968 Chicago website (that has since disappeared, I guess) written from the viewpoint of an officer on duty that night.
What happened was a certain element was determined to start a riot, and it wasn’t the police. Grant Park was declared off limits - and ignored. They ran up a North Vietnamese flag and started throwing bags of excrement on the police, not sure of what order but that did it. None of this, of course, made it on camera, but when the billy clubs were brought out, THEN the klieg lights went on, cameras rolled, and the news orgs had a field day.

Well I can’t vouch for the accuracy of the account, but it was compelling. I tried to look for it a few years later and didn’t succeed in finding the account.
Chicago is a great town, and there’s a “blue collar” element to the 60s that is pretty interesting, this was a voting block that had to be dealt with in any event. Looks to me that it’s been outsourced all over the world....
But now the “rust belt” (Remember a swath from Indiana through PA to New York?) industries have gone green, to meth, and unemployment checks, the casinos, and a telemarketing call center. Yay!
You dirty rat! Hook, line and sinker.
Thanks for reading, TE. Glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate it.

Great Chris, but re-reading “Rush Limbaugh Is The Passion’ was even greater!
Thanks for the bump, E.G.C.
Thanks for reading, Budge. I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed both.
It sounds like the gosh-honest truth to me!
