Raising the minimum wage is nothing more than political snake oil. It makes some politicians look good, but hurts business, raises prices, reduces the number of minimum wage jobs and does nothing to improve those who slick politicians are pretending to help.
Proponents of the Minimum wage/snake oil scam claim that raising the minimum wage helps poor families. Dab that tear, then let's look beyond the scam.
The Heritage Foundation reports that 53% of minimum wage employees are teenagers or young adults under the age of 23. The other 47% have an average family income of $38,100 per year.

Of course that would be ridiculous, you'd say, but what then, would be a "reasonable" wage? Well, of course, where would it stop?
Limbaugh is much better then me in describing the fallacy of such a "minimum wage", but you get the idea....

When you raise the lowest level it cascades upwards too- does anyone else but me see a correlation between the huge increase in the last minimum wage (15% raise!) and the current rising prices?
Leftwingers push the minimum wage because their union thug supporters base their scale off of it.
Also, it panders to the class envy aspect that they always play to.
Statistically, very, very few actual people stay in the bottom quintile of income earners over time (more move in from the bottom - immigrants & teenagers).
And this number is even smaller if you limit your study to those that actually work nearly 40 hours a week.
Isn't it odd that following a recent MWI, the cost of oil, thus fuel, thus product ... goes through the roof ... essentially not only negating any increase, but in fact LOWERS all wages?
When were other increases to MWI and what followed? (in comparison to what I've just proffered)
I think what he means is to let market forces do their job- Nowhere did he say that one group ‘deserves’ a ‘living wage’ or not
Yep, the easiest way to destroy ANYONE’S argument for a higher minimum wage is to say, “If $7/hr is a good idea, then why not $9/hr? Why not $12/hr? Why not $50/hr?” At some point they will say that it is just too much and you simply ask why such an arbitrary amount.
That is the problem with the whole anti minimum wage BS. Supply and demand do not mean anything when you have an unlimited supply of illegal labor, So the whole story is just so much BS.
Another reason why the Federal minimum wage is stupid is the huge discrepancy between the cost of living in Mississippi and New York state. A number that is reasonable in one, will not be reasonable in another.
Living wage, where? A living wage in Memphis, TN is a LOT lower than in Chicago, IL.
THIS is why a Federal minimum wage makes zero sense - the cost of living is NOT constant or even close to being constant across the US.
It’s not that teenagers/young adults do not deserve a “living wage” or that older adults derserve better salaries. Skills & experience are what deserve better salaries. Experience and age happen to be closely correlated.
I started at less than minimum wage (training wage) as a teenager at a fast food joint. There I learned that it was not something I wanted to be stuck in for the rest of my life. After years of technical training and many years on the job, I make six figures. I don’t think it is a double standard.
The reason we have child labor laws is that children were treated like adults at one point and given adult jobs. the problem was that they would take less wages and were easily intimidated.
Anyone who needed a LIVING wage can go get the education and training needed to earn a living wage. But it screws up the economy to artificially inflate the wages of non-living-wage earners. It reduces purchasing power of all wage earners, thus reducing the real wages of everyone.
