McCain Goes All Pork At Whole Hog Café

Little Rock—During his recent trips to Little Rock, Arkansas, Presidential candidate John McCain visited Little Rock’s Whole Hog Café, a popular barbecue stop for locals.

The Whole Hog Café, a seven time winner of the best barbecue by the readers of the Arkansas Times, was a suggested stop by McCain’s travel companion former Arkansas’ Governor Mike Huckabee.

The lure of the smoking pork drew McCain to the smokers in the back. There, he witnessed the cooks preparing slabs of pork ribs for the smokers. McCain, an avid fan of barbecue, was enthralled with the dry rub spices used by the restaurant.

“This is great,” exclaimed McCain. “I always loved the taste of pork, but this rub makes it smell even better.”

“So what’s your pleasure,” asked Governor Huckabee. “How ‘bout some of that chicken?”

“I don’t think so, sailor,” McCain replied. “This boy only wants pork and nothing but pork.”

Senator McCain told Cindy to order, and he loaded up on all the pork ribs he could eat. As they prepared to leave, the matter of who should pay came up.

“Your money is no good in Arkansas, Mr. President,” noted Governor Huckabee while bending over to kiss both cheeks. “We’ll be happy to pay for it.”

“There’s no need. The citizens of Arkansas should pay for it, Mike,” claimed Janet Huckabee, chuckling, “much like they did when you were Governor.”

“The American people are going to pay,” fired Senator McCain, “just like when I’m President of the United States. They love pork, and they’ll get more than their fair share.”

Ultimately, Senator McCain laid down two $20 bills and paid for the meal. And as the driver fired up the diesel engines of “The Straight Talk Express,” Senator McCain remarked that he would like to see the restaurant’s smokers a little more Earth friendly.

If there is one thing that is certain, “The Straight Talk Express” will not be apologetic about giving us lots of pork during this campaign season.

Did he actually make a comment about wishing the smokers were more earth friendly?

No.

My favorite barbecue place ever...well, next to the one where I grew up! So glad they have one in Rogers now, too. Apparently President Bush likes it too. They have a picture of him with barbecue sauce on his tie and a note that says “barbecue sauce from Whole Hog Cafe.” Didn’t realize it was such a political hot spot...except for FReeper meetings.

GREAT place to eat! Not only “W” ate there, but so did Jim Robinson! A group of us FReepers took his family there when they were on tour. I’ll try to find a picture or two to post later.
