I know many Freepers are fans of the old TV show, Mystery Science Theater 3000. If you're drawing a blank, remember these guys...?

The good news is that Joel Hodgson (the guy in the middle) has just launched a new venture with Trace Beaulieu (Crow), Frank Conniff (TV's Frank), Mary Jo Pehl (Pearl), and J. Elvis Weinstein (the original Tom Servo) called Cinematic Titanic.
Their first release is The Oozing Skull and a trailer can be viewed HERE or in lower res form at YouTube THERE.
There's also news about the whole venture HERE.
The world is a sunnier place with these guys watching movies again.

Loved this show.
But if it’s just DVDs to buy....eaaah.
It’s not as fun paying $$$ and not having the anticipation of curling up at 11:00 Friday night to watch it the same time everyone else is.

By the way, that movie is going to be reissued...the same format according to a post on http://www.mst3kinfo.com/. Beats paying over $75 bucks on Ebay for a copy. I did get and watch the Cinematic Titanic maiden DVD..It was pretty good;
although the figures watching the movie in the foreground setup was a bit distracting. There was one figure in the upper left that was standing up holding on the handrail, and would shuffle around every so often...same thing for the guy on the right. I kept thinking, I bet they’ed like to sit down!
It seemed more comfortable in the old MST set where Crow, Joel/Mike, and Tom Servo would just watch while seated in a theater moitf.
Anyway, I’m always looking forward to any releases from this group of talented people.
Don’t forget... “Turn down your lights”

Don't forget TV's Frank (along with Joel) in Cartoon Dump, the worst cartoons ever. Produced in association with animation historian Jerry Beck (Cartoon Brew blog; has done books on Hanna-Barbera and Pink Panther, and co- wrote "Of Mice and Magic" with Leonard Maltin. Cartoon Dump has TV's Frank as Moodsy, the Clinically Depressed Owl, who banters with the bright, and sunny, if a bit dim Compost Brite (Erica Doering).
In addition to the cartoons & comedy bits on the site they are making live appearances in NYC and LA

Maybe they’ll end up back on TV. MSNBC could get better ratings with these guys than with Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.

Maybe now we’ll find out why Buddy Rich has a picture of a burger on the wall.

Yay! I loved MST3K (heck, I still occasionally watch it with some friends) and hopefully this will be just as fun.
