I'm Going To Flip Flop: Vote Duncan Hunter
Take a Stand Against Liberals ^ | 1/2/08 | Jenn of the Jungle

Posted on 01/02/2008 9:41:32 AM PST by pissant

All right, after all this time I finally endorsed Fred Thompson as president on my Monday show. And now I'm going to flip flop.

I kept hearing....."I like Duncan Hunter, but he doesn't stand a chance."

But then if that's who I REALLY want and so many others all say the same damn thing, and we all vote for him, then dammit, HE DOES STAND A CHANCE!

So, now, in writing, I OFFICIALLY ENDORSE DUNCAN HUNTER!

Why do I endorse Duncan? Let me count the ways:

1)He believes judges "have a responsibility to strictly interpret our nation’s laws and not legislate from the bench with their own political or social agenda."

2)Wants to do away with stupid "hate crime" laws."I have always voted against this type of legislation because I firmly believe that the use of violence against any innocent person is wrong, regardless of that individuals race, religion, nationality or sexual orientation."

3)Duncan wants YOU to keep your guns, so you can protect Jenn from bad boys! " We must vigorously defend against all attempts to chip away at the Second Amendment. You know as well as I do that there is one thing criminals prefer over any other: unarmed victims."

4)No pandering on tax cuts,"I do not support efforts to identify segments of our society that are more deserving of a tax cut over another and I believe political stereotyping in this area hinders the goal of providing efficient tax relief. It is important to create a federal tax policy that is both fair to American taxpayers while, at the same time, ensuring that our nation meets its financial obligations."

5)On Education,"I believe we can educate students more effectively by returning school curriculum prerogatives to the states, local communities and, most importantly, to the family."

6)DUMPING THE ANCHOR BABY DEBACLE:"I oppose summarily bestowing citizenship on people who have crossed our borders illegally. Therefore, I cosponsored H.R. 1940, the Birthright Citizenship Act, which grants automatic citizenship only to those who have at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen." Amen!

7) Bite me China: "Further, America’s one-way-street trade relationship with China and other nations has reduced manufacturing jobs severely in the U.S. I would change the one-way-street into a two-way-street by putting the same charges on foreign goods that they put on ours."

There are many more reasons, he's Presidential, he's served, he's a good man.....

VOTE DUNCAN HUNTER 2008!

I can ask stupid questions too.

And an irrelevant one too!

My point was that it is incredibly rare for anyone to serve in the congress and be directly elected President.

What was your point sir?

What was the relevance of your question? It was an incredibly stupid question unless you can come up with a good reason for asking it.

Maybe you can convince yourself that it’s illegal for a rep to run.

Jen said what I’ve thinking for a while.....Why not Hunter?

Look at the field. Vote your convictions. Vote for the best Conservative in the race.

Fred seems to be ahead of Hunter in the polls — but not by much. The picture at Intrade is of an even more volatile race. Hunter could beat Thompson tomorrow in Iowa.

Over at Intrade, the Nomination contracts show McCain surging, overtaking Romney. Thompson has dropped down to 2%, Hunter is still at 0.1, and the volume has dropped to zero.

2008 Republican Presidential Nominee
2008.GOP.NOM.GIULIANI 27.6
2008.GOP.NOM.ROMNEY 22.8
2008.GOP.NOM.MCCAIN 24.5
2008.GOP.NOM.HUCKABEE 9.5
2008.GOP.NOM.PAUL 7.3
2008.GOP.NOM.THOMPSON(F) 2.0
2008.GOP.NOM.HUNTER 0.1

However, in the President.Field contract, where Hunter is embedded (and Ron Paul is NOT), the contract has been gaining volume and is up 100%, within 0.6 of Thompson.

2008.PRES.FIELD
Field (any other candidate) to win 2008 US Presidential Election M 0.3 0.4 0.3 15299 +0.0

2008.PRES.THOMPSON(F)
Fred Thompson to win 2008 US Presidential Election M 0.9 1.0 0.9 34721 -0.1

Rasmussen has started using Intrade results.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1945852/posts

They seem to openly admit that the data for Iowa between Christmas and New Year’s is unreliable: “Rasmussen Reports has not conducted polling in Iowa between Christmas and New Years. We have doubts about the ability to obtain reliable results during that time frame.”

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

Thompson tops the list of most likely to drop out in January, per Intrade. Judging from momentum, Thompson is the one who won’t be on the ballot in February.

DROPOUT.JAN08.(F)THOMPSON
Fred Thompson to drop out of 2008 Presidential race on/before 31 Jan 2008 M 35.0 98.9 40.0 70 0

The chances of a brokered GOP convention are 15%
REP.NOM.2008.BROKERED
The 2008 Republican Pres. Nominee to be selected at a Brokered Convention M 15.0 20.0 15.0 60 0

Here’s a snapshot of the Iowa Caucus. Huckabee has regained the lead. Thompson has rebounded from yesterday’s fall all the way down to 0.1. Unfortunately, Hunter and Ron Paul are still embedded in the Field, so if you wanted to put your money down on Hunter it would cost $4, whereas it would only cost 80cents for Thompson today. It does show that the Field is coming in 3rd place for Iowa. That’s where I’m hoping that Hunter will actually beat Thompson, as unlikely as that is. But Iowans have surprised us in the past, and that’s usually because they tend to weed out the ones who are not authentic and prop up the ones who are. Hunter is the real deal, so he still has a chance over the next couple of days.

Winner of 2008 Republican Iowa Caucus
REP.IOWA.HUCKABEE 65.0
REP.IOWA.ROMNEY 37.0
REP.IOWA.MCCAIN 2.9
REP.IOWA.THOMPSON(F) 0.8
REP.IOWA.GIULIANI 0.1
REP.IOWA.FIELD 4.0

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

In this poll Hunter is up 3% and even with Paul and Thompson.

Aha! OK, thank you. I was wondering if you were simply characterizing my statement as more of the drivel buzzing around the site these days from the partisans.

“1)He believes judges “have a responsibility to strictly interpret our nation’s laws and not legislate from the bench with their own political or social agenda.”

imho, this is the most important issue, because it will affect each and every other issue.

Thompson/Hunter in ‘08 - Thompson/Hunter in ‘12 - Hunter/???? in ‘16!

THAT is what you all should be shooting for, IMHO... It’s time to bring the GOP back from the edge. Hunter and Thompson together would be a TRUE conservative duo. Hunter just doesn’t have what it takes to beat the Democrats this time around, IMHO. After serving under Thompson for a while, he would make a GREAT President (and people would actually know who he was, too!!!).

Thompson and Hunter should be the two guys slugging it out for the top spot. Instead, we have one on life support and the other under water right now.

Now, that pissant, I actually agree with... The rest are media darlings right now because they ARE the left-leaning media’s picks. It’s very sad that the media has become such an influence in this way. Hopefully the good people of Iowa see past the MSM... I hope for the sake of ALL Conservatives that Thompson AND Hunter surprise a great many people tomorrow.
