What follows aren't complete reviews of these sites and everything each has to offer. These are only reviews of their community discussion forums. I tried to stick to sites running traditional forum software, like phpBB and vBulletin, as opposed to comment blogs, with a few exceptions here for notorious blogs like Daily Kos, Huffington Post and Free Republic. Here you'll find forums on the left, forums on the right, and forums in the middle.
Thanks to everyone who took time to build forums and recruit members. Your efforts have helped foster debate.

Simple but effective blog layout with comments posted on daily news items. Militantly territorial community, impatient with strangers, particularly left-leaning ones, but very active community. The "Freepers" are notoriously aggressive in print. If you're not ultra-conservative and you're aching for a fight, you'll find one here. The site excels as a breaking news source as well. Just know that you'll catch hell from the locals if you aren't ultra-conservative or libertarian. You've been warned.

We are the blue on that chart. The color is determined by the order the comparison criteria is typed in.
BUMP FOR later
Is there a chance that DU has a larger page view number - simply because their site layout stinks?
We have a much higher page view number. Our ranking is a lower number than the DUmmies, on that ranking Yahoo is number one and MSN is number 2.
It’s ridiculous that DU is #2. I’m not saying that because of the content, simply the quality of the forum software. They don’t even have a search feature! Plus trying to figure out which post a reply is to drives one to drink.
Yea, I saw that also. Maybe it was because we would overwhelm the others on the list, then everyone would wonder why FR was only No. 9

Yes. And what's the bad news?
uhh am i seeing this right? DU gets 30000 hits beginning of March vs 8000 for FR.

That is the 30,000 websites away from first place in Internet traffic.
Cheers,
OLA
I didn’t realize just how outnumbered we are. Most are lefty.
LOL! That's Free Republic alright. Let's keep it that way.
‘I think I know exactly who you’re talking about. And that site operator has a few other problems as well.’
Indeed.
Just a little mathematical logic here: according to this, all the libertarians should be catching hell from the ultra-conservatives and vice versa. Ergo, everybody here should be catching hell from somebody.
Bartcop is still around? I’ll have to give him persistence. He challenged me a couple of times when I ran the Clinton Joke-of-the-Day Page, but I wasn’t in the mood for his games. He wanted something of mine that he could rip apart on his website. I declined.
I see there’s far more left-leaning forums than right.
Evidently the ranking is NOT based on participation or membership.
It's a jungle out there. We do what we need to do in order to survive.
