An Open Letter To Rush Limbaugh
Jon Alvarez ^ | 10/23/2006 | Jon Alvarez

Posted on 10/24/2006 5:24:00 AM PDT by Jon Alvarez

Dear Rush:

Pardon my French, but you’re full of s***! As I listened to your show last week, you chose to criticize and attack conservative Americans like myself who feel the Republican Party does not deserve to win in November. Rush, since when did you become such a shill for the GOP? Choosing the party over the base is a very disappointing move to this long time listener. I’m very disappointed in you, Rush Limbaugh, you’ve lost touch with the reality that is life for the common man in America. I heartily recommend you take pause and reconsider your programming strategy. Do you really want to attack those of us on the front lines versus liberalism? Rush, you yourself have become one of the elite of our society. Perhaps I need to give you some perspective, so you can better understand our anger, or at least mine.

You're a naive loser. If you can't support the team get off the field and stop your chickified whining.

"I decided to leave the party last year and became non-party affiliated"

I became an independent early last year, after 36 years of being a Republican. I always said, "I'm a Conservative first, and then, a Republican."

I always thought (or wished) Rush was the same. He waited far to long to speak out against the RINOs and is now clamoring to re-establish himself as the solid Conservative he was until 1996, when Bob Dole ran for the Presidency. Bob Dole may be a lot of things good, but, he definately was never a Conservative. I guess when Rush decided to cover for Bob Dole's deficiencies, he kept it going through the Bush years and is now trying to blame Conservatives, and not his 'politically moderate' thinking over past 10 years.

Although what I stated above is how I feel and see it, it in no way takes away the great accomplishments Rush has given the Republican party, and all America, since 1988.

Exactly.

Politics is all compromise, all the time. Nobody gets exactly what they want, the best you can hope for is to push things in the general direction.

John, As a fellow New Yorker, I absolutely feel your pain. The Republican Party in our State has ceased to exist for all intents and purposes.

Substitute Illinois for New York and I could have written that statement.

Here in Illinois we have a choice between two democrats for governor, only one has an "R" behind her name.

>>>There has to be a better way to show the GOP leaders that we want change than giving power to the above mentioned people>>>

How? Screaming about hasn't worked. Now you are sounding like the Dems. "We want change, but have no idea how to get it"

Good luck with that around here.

As you've already seen, knee-jerk reactions abound.

Sleeper troll?
Nah, just a NY poster pitching a hissy fit.

Rush won't bother to read his rant, and neither did I.
Too many words. Not pithy! Grade: F.

First of all, what has the DUmba$$ done IN HIS OWN STATE to change things? He should concentrate efforts on getting republicans IN POWER instead of going to work for the Jacka$$ party.

When he has a guy like Tom Coburn representing him, then I might listen to his arguments....however, since he's represented by Schmuckie and Hellary, he can follow the advice of Betty:

MESSAGE FOR CUT & RUN COWARDS

>>>While I agree with the sentiments of the author, the general election is not the time or place to punish incumbent politicians by either not voting or voting for the dems>>>

When is then? Since the republicans in office show daily they are more interested in their own power and money then serving their base, instead catering to illegal aliens... WHEN is the time or place?

Why should your sorry French be pardoned? Why write a whole letter asking someone to pardon it? Why post said letter publicly? Why not learn proper English and forget trying to write French with your *** key? It just looks profane, offensive, impolite and unpardonable, despite your sincere plea, so give up already.

So you will put the RATs in charge to show the party how disgusted you are with them? No, you missed his point completely. The time to show the party is during the primary. The control of the House and Senate matters and this whole "there's no difference" used food falls apart when the RATs have control of the House and Senate. It is bitter medicine to swallow, but the disease of having the RATs in charge is terminal.

For several years the Republican voter has been PO'd with the direction of the GOP. Elected Republicans ignored the base in a lot of ways. The current crop is possibly the most worthless in the history of the party. Spineless and no leadership. BUT we cannot turn this country over to the RATS. We owe it to future generations and to honor our past. I would suggest EVERYONE email/call the RNC, elected Rs and so on to voice their concerns. Put them on notice.

I figured the party faithful would be here en-masse to belittle you, call you stupid, and crow "Pelosi!, Pelosi!"

They didn't disappoint.

I notice the latest talking points are being thrown around liberaly, "cut-and-run conservative" and "the primaries are the time to make a point." In reality, conservatives are not running from the GOP, the GOP is steadily running from conservatism. This point is constantly made clear IN the primaries, where the GOP ignores the more conservative candidate and throws its financial and other support between whoever has more chance of keep the party in control. Both talking points are just that, talking points. Easy for dim-witted party faithful to spew, and meant to stifle debate.

I'm reminded of a scene in the Jim Carey movie "Liar, Liar." Carey's character has just paid a huge amount of money to get his car out of impound and finds a large scratch in the side of his car. After complaining to an impound yard employee, the employee asks: "So? What are you gonna do about it?" Carey's character thinks for a second, the realizes that he's "..just going to bend over and take it, because there's nothing he CAN do about it." The impound yard employee smiles and says "You've been here before."

Yep. Conservatives have been here before. Oh, I'll vote. And I will likely vote pretty close to a straight party line. I'll remain on the plantation because there's nothing else I can do about it, and the GOP loves it.

If any of you party faithful have ideas on how to really effect change in your party, let me know.

What? I don't know of any Republican in my area that was challenged in the primary that was an incumbant. If there were options, other than the one whose always been there...

Once again, I ask what's the difference? The Republicans have spent more on garbage in the past 6 years than EVER.
