While I agree with the sentiments of the author, the general election is not the time or place to punish incumbent politicians by either not voting or voting for the dems. The time for action against RINOs is in the primaries. that is where we should concentrate on dumping bad candidates and getting good ones in their place. Even though the power of encumbency is greater there, that is still the arena for such a fight for change.

I agree with you. Of course there will be GOP brainwashed masses who will say "I'd rather have bad Republicans than Democrats" and I say what's the effing difference?

>>>Don't bitch if you get Pelosi as Speaker and Rangle as Ways and Means. >>>

Please tell me the difference, we have them controlling the house now. By the Republicans letting them bully them, and not standing up to CONSERVATIVE principles...

So again, what's the difference?

In before the ZOT?

Mr. Alvarez (are you related to the former Wisconsin coach? It's because you may be that going to cut you some slack) I feel your pain. But you are the one that is full of $hit (to borrow your "french" term.)

No, Rush, I’m not a cut and run conservative. By definition you are...too bad.

I am so fed up with the greed and corruption of these out of touch, spineless career politicians that I am planning to vote for the opponent of the incumbent in each race this November, regardless of political affiliation. That's just plain stupidity. The damage that could be done by SPEAKER PELOSI, whom YOU would be electing is unfathomable.

Our battles are in the primaries. Take your anger and use it constructively by getting involved in the process at the grass roots level. But then again it's much easier to wait until 14 days before the general election to start crying about the situation.

From your home page on FR

"I am a common sense conservative"

They must define common sense quite differently in your neck of the universe.

Stop whining and look at history. Things have been a hell of a lot worse. How about the Nixon resignation, the fall of Saigon and the post-Vietnam era with Jimmy Carter for President? The Democrats almost succeeded in surrendering the country to the Soviets. Recently, the Republicans have stumbled but the Democrats have always been space aliens and always will be.

The difference?

The next two Supreme court nominations.

You should grow up and stop acting like a spoiled child.

You are exactly correct. They are like little children pitching a fit. They are no better than Democrats. They are doing NOTHING to help. I'm sick of them.

My wife keeps telling me, 'the American people are too stupid to know what's really going on with the current battle over our culture war. I have a hard time understanding your rationale, throwing out the baby with the bathwater. We don't live in a Utopia where all is perfect. I'm a very strong believer in voting for the person or party that will serve me best. With all the different political opinions, I suspect that you do not subscribe to most of my phylisophical beliefs in differences between the democratic blue print of socialism vs capitalism where true freedom has a much better chance to thrive. Like the daily polling that in my opinion is suspect, your diatribe is suspect and I have a hard time believing that you are one of us who thinks that the democrats will do a better job. Give me a break! They've been very open in proclaiming what they're planning to do once they are in the majority. Taxes, regulations, reversal of our economic growth, more political correctness etc etc etc..... Having said my peace, I feel in a way that your posting has a positive effect on people like me in being all the more determined to win and work even harder to get out the republican vote.

You are never going to find a candidate, let alone a political party, that agrees with you 100 percent of the time. You can't judge a party against some perfect utopian conservative benchmark that exists only in your imagination.

That is what I think when I read rants about a Republican candidate on this forum, which is often. If I wait for a candidate with whom I agree 100% I would never vote unless I run for the office myself. I am 61 years old and I haven't seen the candidate yet that I agree with 100%

I think this idiot thinks this election and this war is just a big game- and he wants what he wants- power- just like the dems- he cares not about what happens to our troops or our citizens and freedoms in his effort to get it....

all other thoughts would get me banned....

I believe we should all be Broken Glass Republicans and do everything we can to keep the Dims out of power. That said, I do share some of the frustrations in Jon's screed. However, instead of voting the Republicans out, after the election, we should definitely hold their chestnuts to the fire!

Oh Jon, Jon, Jon.
Now that I'm a grownup conservative and no longer a clueless liberal, there is but one thing that saddens me: To find there are some dumb-ass, completely emotive and logically bereft wing-nuts here, too. Thankfully, you are far, far, far fewer in number. And in the grand scheme of things, you are insignificant and impotent in your tantrums. But nonetheless, you are the t*rds in the punchbowl.

> You should know better than posting this rant on a Republican website.

Ummm, no.... FR is a "Conservative website". As in:

Welcome to Free Republic!

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

Nowhere on the rather extensive Home Page does the word "Republican" appear. OBTW, "Rb ver. 2.0" (2006-07-08), Welcome to Free Republic. Learn a few more things about FR before you post next time.

We're supposed to be the ones with principles. If the best we can say about our candidates is "Well, the other guy is worse", then we have lost our way.

John, As a fellow New Yorker, I absolutely feel your pain. The Republican Party in our State has ceased to exist for all intents and purposes. George Pataki (an absolute RINO bum) has sold us down the river at every opportunity. Bloomberg IS a nanny state DemocRAT, whose main qualification to office is that he was not Mark Greene (think Nancy Pelosi without her sweet personality).

However we have to remember that west of the Hudson the are a few actual Republicans, who are worthy of support. Giving the RATS control of Congress is really cutting off your nose to spite your face.
