Just in case you didn't know. And I have absolutely nothing to wear. The recent disrupted London based terrorist plot seems to fit suspiciously well as far as timing is concerned or it may have all been a coincidence. The long awaited 'other shoe' has not yet dropped, but I have to admit the Dark Lords of the Shia have been making me nervous lately with their veiled threats and mutterings and the other brand of militant Islam represented by the Al Qaeda always hates to be left out as well. One never knows for sure what's going to happen and when it comes to crackpots and murderous fanatics, the crystal ball is hazy at best.
There has been a lot of speculation throughout the internet but this Infidel may be a Sage but is a hesitant prophet. Could there be something be brewing? Absolutely. Will a world war break out on Tuesday? I doubt it. But I'll top of the gas tanks just in case. More here: Opinion Journal's August 22 Does Iran have something in store? . A couple of large FReeRepublic posts here, here and here. And FrontPageMagazine's Iran's Day of Terror?, and NewsMax's Iran Hints at Aug. 22 Doomsday for Israel.
"In Islam, as in Judaism and Christianity," the professor writes, "there are certain beliefs concerning the cosmic struggle at the end of time - Gog and Magog, anti-Christ, Armageddon, and for Shiite Muslims, the long-awaited return of the Hidden Imam, ending in the final victory of the forces of good over evil, however these may be defined.
"Mr Ahmadinejad [the Iranian president] and his followers clearly believe that this time is now, and that the terminal struggle has already begun and is indeed well advanced. It may even have a date, indicated by several references by the Iranian president to giving his final answer to the US about nuclear development by August 22. This was at first reported as 'by the end of August', but Mr Ahmadinejad's statement was more precise."

Exhaustive analysis of "more cowbell".....;]

How about "The Eve of Destruction?" Just trying to think of stuff to add to our "End of the World" playlist.
LOL!
They are playing REM on the radio right now.
Someone has a sense of humor....
Sounded like the end-of-our-little-corner of the world this morning. Real nasty thunderstorm around 6 a.m. followed by a large house-shaking boom. Lighning hit an oil tank battery on the edge of town -- looked like Beirut airport a couple of weeks ago. Six tanks and assorted equipment -- One is gone the others burnt badly. Course sounds like a normal day in Baghdad!
sure, anything you say
Good point. Glad it is in humor now, not breaking. see you :-)
Didn't Dusty Springfield do one called, "The End of My World?" LOL
LOL - I blasted that song about half an hour ago for a laugh.
Sounds good. Thanks again :-)
Hmmm...they keep that kind of stuff up and I'll feel right at home when I arrive there in a couple of weeks. I'll sleep like a baby with all of those comforting, familiar noises around me. ;-)

Eve of Destruction Lyrics Barry Macguire Eve of Destruction
The eastern world it is explodin', Violence flarin', bullets loadin', You're old enough to kill but not for votin', You don't believe in war, what's that gun you're totin', And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin', But you tell me over and over and over again my friend, Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say? Can't you feel the fears that I'm feeling today? If the button is pushed, there's no running away, There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave, Take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy, And you tell me over and over and over again my friend, Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin', I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin', I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation, Handful of Senators don't pass legislation, And marches alone can't bring integration, When human respect is disintegratin', This whole crazy world is just too frustratin', And you tell me over and over and over again my friend, Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. Think of all the hate there is in Red China! Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama! Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space, But when your return, it's the same old place, The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace, You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace, Hate your next-door-neighbour, but don't forget to say grace, And you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Damn! And I was all prepared.

I'm putting an "Armageddon" playlist on my iPod.
I also snagged "End of the World" by Skeeter Davis. I'm looking for Dusty Springfield titles now.
And I already had R.E.M.'s "End of the World as We Know It."
We really are entertainment-deprived here.
Isn't it already the 22nd somewhere? Is this going to be like Y2K all over again? Is CNN covering? Does Fox have Geraldo staged somewhere? All these questions, and not much time to get an answer. Have a Nice Day!
Ping to self
Does this mean no football season?
How about "Right here, right now" by Jesus Jones?
