New NBC Drama Show Mocks Christianity

Email NBC Chairman Bob Wright over NBC's latest show, "The Book of Daniel."

NBC is touting the network's mid-season replacement series "The Book of Daniel" with language that implies it is a serious drama about Christian people and Christian faith. The main character is Daniel Webster, a drug-addicted Episcopal priest whose wife depends heavily on her mid-day martinis.

Webster regularly sees and talks with a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Jesus. The Webster family is rounded out by a 23-year-old homosexual Republican son, a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer, and a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop's daughter.

At the office, his lesbian secretary is sleeping with his sister-in-law.

Network hype – and the mainstream media – call it "edgy," "challenging" and "courageous." The hour-long limited drama series will debut January 6 with back-to-back episodes and will air on Friday nights. The writer for the series is a practicing homosexual.

The homosexual son will be network prime-time's only regular male homosexual character in a drama series.

Please use the link below to send a letter to NBC Chairman Bob Wright.

Next, please forward this to your family and friends today!

Those at NBC responsible for this program consider it a good, religiously oriented show typical of Christian families. I got this email from AFA:

NBC considers new show featuring a completely dysfunctional family a positive portrayal of Christ and Christians

On January 6, NBC will begin a new series entitled The Book of Daniel.

While the public has not seen the program, NBC is promoting "The Book of Daniel" as a serious drama about Christian people and the Christian faith.

NBC and the mainstream media call it "edgy," "challenging" and "courageous." The series is written by Jack Kenny, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being "in Catholic recovery," and is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation and isn't sure exactly how he defines God and/or Jesus. "I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him (Jesus) is true," he said.

NBC considers The Book of Daniel a positive portrayal of Christ and Christians.

Please take action now! Here is what you can do:

1. Call your local NBC affiliate and ask them not to air the program. You can find their contact information in your local phone book or by Clicking Here.

2. Print out a copy of AFA's pass along sheet, fill in the affiliate call letters and phone number, make copies and pass out at your church. Ask your pastor to announcement it and put information in the bulletin and newsletter. [ doc version]

3. If you haven't already done so, send an email to NBC by Clicking Here .

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! Please help get the word out by forwarding this to your family and friends. They probably aren't aware of it!

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman American Family Association

Don't watch it if you don't care for its message.

I object to others trying to censor what I would like to watch.

Someone should make a show about a Network exectutive who is an alcoholic, really stupid, has no taste, is corrupt, is a racist, anti-semite, and cheats on his wife.

A show like that, you know, a positive portrayal of a corporate executive, could really attract an audience.

And, in a related story, they've asked D. Wildmon for free publicity.

yawn yawn yaaaawn.

Hilarious!

This is what the MSM considers reaching out to regain those bizarre Christians for their audience.

The activist homosexual community won't be satisfied until they drag everyone down to their level.

Easy enough to avoid this show. Just don't tune it in.

This is an old story, actually, and was posted a couple of weeks ago.

I see that the Mods have moved this to Bloggers/Personal. So I guess it's just not that important, and not news.

The show sounds boring. If nobody watches, it'll be cancelled. That's the simplest solution.

Let me guess the 23 year old Homosexual Republican son is the only normal one?

Sounds like your average liberal family.

NBC considers The Book of Daniel a positive portrayal of Christ and Christians.

Positive, maybe not. Whether or not it's realistic is another matter.

Wildmon and the AFA and all the censorship zealots would do a lot more good trying to clean up the church which is ~supposed~ to be clean rather than trying to clean up the world which is ~supposed~ to be worldly.

My New Year's Resolution is to give up the AFA.

They don't represent me, my church or my family.

I respect our feelings....

But I hope you respect my "Christian" view.

If they were making shows that showed our troops to be blood thirsty, murderous thugs- people would be upset.

The same is for us Christians. We have sat by quietly for too long- trying to stay out of the "mess" and just live our lives the best we can- and not taking action...
It has lead us to this point.

I think IGNORING it is actually the worst thing we can do.

Time for us to defend ourselves, and the image the Media is dead set on trying to portray of us....

But thank you for your input....

:-)

This show will be cancelled before three episodes are aired. Forget about it mocking Christianity, the protests ought to be based on the fact that the show sucks.

If you watch most TV its already been censored and only includes a liberal, amoral point of view

And this is America, we have a right to voice concerns, boycott a show and its advertisers

That's probably true,
but demographics are more
than just raw numbers.

If enough people
in a certain age group with
a certain income

tune in to the show
the media will call it
a "hit" even if

the total number
of viewers is small. No one
I know likes watching

Will & Grace, but still
it's been on for years and years.
"Ratings" are bizarre.

Yes. You do.

I'm glad the nuttiest are in control of that process. They seldom have success.
