In the aftermath of the death (killing?) of Terri Schiavo, there is a truly inspirational story out of Orchard Park, New York. Firefighter Donald Herbert was injured in 1995 when the roof of the building he was in collapsed. He was buried under debris and his brain was deprived of oxygen for several minutes. He spent the next couple of months in a coma and has been in a brain damaged state, and unable to communicate, for the past 10 years.
On Saturday Mr. Herbert said "I want to talk to my wife". This was the first of many conversations he had that day. In contrast to Terri Schiavo, Mr. Herbert was allowed to undergo therapy over the past ten years. It took ten years, he thought it was 3 months), but the therapy paid off and he has recovered to the point where he is able to speak to his wife and children once again.
When we reflect back on the Terri Schiavo case, we recall that the husband received a large settlement from a malpractice suit. He stopped her therapy shortly thereafter. Numerous neurologists spoke out at the time saying that she could have made a substantial recovery had she been given the necessary therapy. So many people were fighting for her right to live, from family all the way to the White House. I hope they now take comfort from the recovery of this brave man and know that they were doing the right thing. For those who fought for the husband's right to starve her to death, I hope this brings some very deep moral questions to mind.
This cements the fact that people in brain-damaged states can recover.
It also proves that the liberal tyrants committed murder.
Imagine if they had starved and deydrated him to death since he had no quality of life left. That could have happend and glad it didn't cause apparntly he had a lot of quality of life left since he has now woke up at age 47. Amazing! just proves to these quacks who think a person in a coma or PVS is worthless are just that, QUACKS!
Wow!! Now hopefully he will LIVE and full and happy LIFE!!!!!

These stories should teach people to not give up so easily on LIFE. Too many in this society are too quick to write people off.
Pro-life bump!
Firefighter Wakes Up After 10 Years ping!!
and people - like Terri's POS husband, who have a vested interest AGAINST the patient should not be allowed to demand she have no therapy! - The first few years - before he got his settlement - she was looking very alert - I believe she could well have been a success story - but he imprisoned her in isolation with no treatment = I do hope he gets his just deserts...
