Bishop Trivializes The Pope's Death
Indiana Listserve ^ | 4/7/2005 | Bishop Tikhon

"I don't like much about our times. All this humbug about the corpse of another Pope. The world is not that much diminished by his passing. The world was, however, diminished by the passing of Ray Charles and J. Hunter Thompson. As far as the Christianity of the USA goes, it is not the Pope, but Jimmy Carter who, as the only truly devout Christian President in our time, keeps the memory of a country with Christian aspirations alive, even when its present government is busy abolishing the freedoms of its citizens, and its adherence to decency, as well as morality in government."

"Commending all to Christ's love,"

+Tikhon,
Bishop of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and the West, The Orthodox Church in America

Let's see now: the world is more diminished by the passing of a sexually promiscuous, pop-culture musician/part-time heroin addict, and a drug-crazed writer who blew his brains out and who wanted his ashes to be shot out of a cannon, than it is diminished by the passing of John Paul II. Carter, who gives an interview to Playboy magazine, whose heroes are neo-orthodox Protestants such as Paul Tillich, and who is not afraid to identify with the execrable Michael Moore, is "the only truly devout Christian President in our time."

Is there some reason we are wasting bandwidth over this drivel? This has got to take the award for the most ignorant statement of the day, perhaps the week or maybe even the month.

Sometimes it is better to let articles that are so far off the wall like this one, to remain lost in the void.

Mods need to pull this trash.

We're trying to expose the radical leftists in positions of power that are destroying the faith. That's were showing the truth and trying to get some momentum to have leftist and insance hierarchs be removed.

He is an Orthodox Christian Bishop on the West Coast. His name is "Bishop Tikhon." He's notorious for being anti-America, anti-conservatives, and rabidly anti-Bush. Here's the public link to his page: http://www.ocadow.org/bishop.htm

"...Orthodox Christian Bishop..."

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with that sect. It sounds inconsequential, as he does. I'll have to do some research on that group...

He has stolen the name of a true martyr if I recall rightly.

Stolen and trashing the name. This bishop's misdeeds and hateful rhetoric will stay with us for years to come. God knows how much damage he has done to the Orthodox Christian faith.
