Members of the Democratic National Committees (DNC) Black Caucus have become seemingly desensitized to racial slurs. The Caucus did not even blink when the extreme Lefts new champion, Howard Dean, made prejudiced statements right before their very eyes. From Deans comments, it seems he believes that a Black persons place is to be cleaning toilets at a hotel in which whites stay. According to the Washington Times,
On Feb. 11, the day before he was elected party chief, Mr. Dean asked, at a meeting of the DNC Black Caucus, "You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room?" The Associated Press reports that laughter greeted Mr. Dean, who then delivered the punchline: "Only if they had the hotel staff in here."
Unbelievable. Today is February 28. I did not find out about this incident until yesterday while watching Fox News. Imagine the uproar if President Bush or any other Republican on Earth for that matter would have made similar comments before the NAACP, Black Caucus, or Urban League. Trent Lott had to resign his position as U.S. Senate Majority Leader for less innocuous comments made in December 2002.
Lord. I never thought the politically correct double-standard would go this far. Democratic Senator Robert Byrd once belonged to the KKK and used the term white nigger on national television. NAACP President Kweisi Mfume called Condi Rice, Colin Powell, and Roderick R. Paige hustlers and yes men Harry Belafonte called these outstanding African-Americans Uncle Toms. After 9/11, Professor Ward Churchill of the U of Colorado called the victims little Eichmanns, comparing them to Adolf Eichmann, the architect of Hitler's plan to eradicate Europe's Jews. American universities continue to allow terrorists onto their campuses to hold annual meetings terrorist planning sessions?
What has happened to the Democratic Party? Every society needs an opposition, but really. This is too much. The DNC would have been much better served choosing a man of integrity like Senator Joe Lieberman for its chairman, er, ah, chairperson.
I see no evidence of Democrats chiding Howard Dean for his terrible comments. In fact, it seems only Republicans have offered a rebuke to his anti-African-American remarks. Again, the Washington Times:
Not everyone is so bemused. Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele and former congressman J.C. Watts, both black Republicans, have called for the chairman to apologize. In a joint statement, they wrote, "In his comments to the Democratic Black Caucus, Dean equates African-Americans who support Republicans to hired help. This kind of backward thinking reminds us of a horrible time in history when blacks were seen as servants." Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman called Mr. Dean's comments racist.
Everyone of course understands what Mr. Dean means when he says these things; he's just awful at saying them. We couldn't help but remember Mr. Dean's quip during the Democratic presidential primary that he wanted "to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks."
Dean is awful, with his X-Files-like gaffes, inhuman screeches, and his animosity towards Israel. I would feel a lot better if someone on the Left would take him to task. But I do not see this happening soon. Life is out of balance for many on the extreme Left side of the political spectrum. Unfortunately, this minority constituency now has a stranglehold on the heart of the Democratic Party.

Of course he didn't hear about it. Guys like Rather Dan are running the "mainstream" media.
