Time now for the DUmmie FUnnies to jump to the defense of its favorite Democrat Senator---Barack Obama. Hey, anybody who enjoys reading the DUmmie FUnnies CANT be all bad, even if he is a Democrat. Anyway, you can see the DUmmies slamming Obama in this THREAD titled, Barack Obama at bat on C-SPAN. As usual the DUmmie whinings are in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, in his rare role as Democrat Defender, is in the [brackets]:
Let's see if he's worth his salt...nothing to note so far...
[Except for the fact that the good Democrat Senator enjoys reading the DUFUs. Oh, and a BIG shoutout to our favorite Democrat senator.]
hes very impressed with her credentials, blah blah blah. ho hum
[DISGUSTING!!! How dare Senator Obama show Condi Rice even common courtesy?]
Politics, politics....He's good at bridging the gap, but can he be a member of the opposition as well?
[Dont worry. Obama is most likely to be in opposition to DUmmie lunacy. Not hard to be that way if you are a DUFU fan.]
i'm not feeling him so far. i'll wait
[Im feeling that Senator is laughing his ass off ..at you DUmmies.]
My opinion: Obama not impressive. He's going out of his way to be "bipartisan." He's afraid to challenge her. Why?
[Common courtesy. Although I know you would love for Obama to wrestle Condi to the ground.]
Why doesn't he just go f'her and get it over with? This is someone that is looked at as the future of the Dem Party???
[Senator Obama is probably the best thing the Democrats got going for them .which is why it wouldnt surprise me too much if he switches over to the Dark Side in the near future.]
Obama is the new stealth Republican. Watch him...
[I AM! I AM! And Im liking what I see. The DUmmie hate for Obama raises him sky high in my estimate.]
Unfortunately, I'm beginning to think he'll be a soft spot for the Dems instead of their savior.
[The only soft spot is in your head, DUmmie.
.Senator Obama, pay no attention to that jerk. And a final big DUFU SHOUTOUT to our favorite Democrat senator. If the DUmmies hate you, then you must be doing something RIGHT.]
In what way is Obama a far leftist? I don't know much about his political record.
Slam you for defending Obama (or "Osama Obama" - is that what Ted Kennedy mistakenly called him)? Au contraire. The good Senator seems to be ... dare I say it? ....REASONABLE.

"The DUmmies prove they are the real racists. If it wasn't for Obama's skin color, they wouldn't be holding him up to some great left wing standard."
Ditto Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, and so on. If you DARE to leave the reservation...
African-Americans know when they're being played, and many of them are starting to wise up. I think I was most appalled when I heard a clip of Al Gore speaking at an African-American church, INTENTIONALLY sounding like a black preacher. He had the cadence down, the lingo down. It was appalling. The pandering and the phoniness was SO OBVIOUS, it made me sick to listen to it.
"The DUmmies prove they are the real racists. If it wasn't for Obama's skin color, they wouldn't be holding him up to some great left wing standard"
Darn! I need that clip that Sean Hannity plays all the time, of Ted Kennedy singing (caterwauling is more like it).
He sounds like he's totally three-sheets-to-the-wind.
I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet on the "reasonable" front. He's new to the senate and hasn't had a chance to let the other dems kill his spirit yet.
Harold Ford used to sound "reasonable" and compared to his peers he still does, but he's been slouching toward Gamorah as the years go by. They had him out after the election saying some silly things and the light in his eyes were dimmer.
I don't think you can be a democrat on the national stage and keep your sanity. Zell Miller was the rare case of a dem gettting more sober when he went to D.C. but he wasn't planning on running after being appointed, I don't think, so they couldn't withold funds from him.
I have to admit I'm not up to snuff on Obama's political record, or even the previous offices he's held. Then again, he seems to be quite the media darling so that makes a guy like me somewhat suspicious (No offense Senator, just in case you're reading this).
Point taken. You're right, Harold Ford was one of the "reasonable" Democrats at one time. I think he changed a bit when he was going up against Pelosi for the House minority leader position.
Zell was my Senator, and I just love him. I was a bit PO'd when Paul Coverdell died and then-Governor Roy Barnes (D) appointed Zell to take his place. I was ticked because Coverdell was Republican, and I felt that Barnes should have replaced him with a Republican, but he's a Dem and he had no legal requirement to do so, so it wasn't going to happen. I didn't vote for Zell when Coverdell's term was up. I saw him as a Friend of Bill (remember the keynote address, how he said that Clinton "really feeeeeeeeels our paaaaain"), but as time went on and I saw him buck the system and actually do what was sensible and right for Georgia and the U.S., I actually started to like him.
You're right. He was disillusioned with D.C. and he really wanted to go back to his home in Young Harris, GA and spend time with his grandkids and teach some college courses. That gave him the freedom to do what he felt was right, party be damned. I had to laugh after his address at the RNC, when the talking heads (Chris Matthews, for one) were wondering what kind of quid pro quo he was getting from the Republicans for his address and his campaigning for Bush. Answer: nothing.
it wouldnt surprise me too much if he switches over to the Dark Side in the near future.
I live in Chicagoland. I have a hard time believing that could happen. But it's a nice though anyway.
Does this mean the Obama VP 2008 (or even Prez 2008) balloon they were trying to float at DU is of the past?
And if anything is going to drive the poor man to the Boxer Canyon Insane Asylum and Latte House, it will be being praised on FR ;)
You and me both brother, you and me both. But I would leave out 'a bit'. I had just come into my political awareness and had just discovered Coverdell when BAM, he was gone. I missed out on him just like I did Reagan, and it really makes me mad sometimes.
Oh, and I hated Barnes with a passion.
Coverdell wasn't in office for a full term, either. We had just voted him in to replace Wyche Fowler (D). Fowler was another one of those Dems who thought that he was "entitled" to keep being voted back in again and again (like Cleland). He was one of the Senators; Cleland was the other. I don't know if you remember the Coverdell campaign commercial with the old lady singing:
"Put Paul Coverdell in the Senate
and put Wyche Fowler oouuuut!"
Oh, and I made the mistake of voting for Barnes the first time he ran for Governor. I was a "moderate", voting split tickets. Didn't make the same mistake when he ran against Perdue.
lol, I do remember that ad!
Did you know that 20 of the 41 GA State Dems in the house are forming their own caucus, moving away from the national party? They said that the nat'l party doesn't represent them or their constituents, but they don't want to leave the party. Sound familiar? The Miller legacy. LOL, the Atlanta Dems are spitting mad, and are calling them treasonous.
It may be possible, if Sonny doesn't spend us into too big of a hole, for the Republicans to take EVEN MORE seats from the Dems. They still don't get it!
People want reasonable elected officials who look out for us and America, and wake up everyday and know that America is the best place in the world to live. We can disagree, but it really has gone too far.
Oh, and as for you voting for Barnes, I did too, the first time. But then again, I voted for 'you-know-who' also in 92.
From what I've seen Obama is a very polite man who is interested in talking the inclusion talk, and may even mean it. Which doesn't mean his interests are my interests, and just because he's nice doesn't mean he's a stealth republican. He's a far leftist who peddles his position in nice ocmfy language that may very well draw a lot of voters, just like Bill Clinton did.
True, but we give credit where it's due. Unlike the Du we don't hate people. He conducted himself in a reasonable manner today, saying that doesn't require "joining the other side" LOL
""I have to admit I'm not up to snuff on Obama's political record, or even the previous offices he's held. Then again, he seems to be quite the media darling so that makes a guy like me somewhat suspicious (No offense Senator, just in case you're reading this).""
The only thing I know of him is he ran against Alan Keyes. I got the impression they were opposite on some of the culture issues. Not sure exactly where Osama stands on them however. The Democratic platform is is firm on gay marriage however. Osama? I don't know.
I don't live in that state so I only know what I read, and my focus really wasn't there. Here, the conservatives were rooting for Keyes.
