A fine essay dealing with a goofy tv topic, Thomas is right of course.

Agreed.
I am used to gross humor being in college, but even South Park takes it to extremes, and I find myself blushing.
However, it is so hilarious.....and yet gives important things to think about....that I still watch.

Anybody who portrays Janet Reno as an evil Easter bunny has to have something going for them.
Don't they?
Hey, and how about the Mecha Streisand ??

South Park is great, and the folks offended by it make it all the more sweet...

The specific SP episode in question was a hilarious, over the top attack on Paris Hilton. Ultimately, the episode was a plea for sexual modesty. But it made its argument in terms which would definitely not pass muster at most church youth groups: exaggeration, ridicule, and sheer gross imagery. As such, it is far likelier to reach those most "at risk" of becoming sluts, whores, or whatever terminology you prefer, such as the more politically correct term "girls with low self-esteem." And the character making the most eloquent plea was a gay bondage freak named "Mr. Slave" (who, incidentally, often says very sensible things, as do a number of other gay characters, like "Big gay Al"). Exactly.

I still love the Underpants Gnomes episode with their business plan:
Step 1: Collect underpants
Step 2:
Step 3: Profit!

South Park is entertainment.
Entertainment and entertainers should not be taken seriously.

SP is a great, funny witty show for adults. It is not for children. It is funny and skewers the Left brilliantly. It is often over the top but that's okay with me because I find that funny. If anyone doesn't, change the channel

Satirical Comedy is one of the few cultural enterprises where American culture continues to shine, without need of NEA grants.
MAD Magazine, Lenny Bruce, Harvard Lampoon, SCTV, SNL, etc.
Now South Park. **** Yeah, America!

He's completely 100% right of course...though it should be noted that the Hilton episode was a call for modesty
among young children Actually, the "Vote or Die, M.F." episode was even more pointed and well aimed, perhaps the best satire of the last decade.
