Hi fellow Freepers. I just got this e-mail from one of my misguided Liberal Dem friends. I don't know how to answer this, because, I don't know if it's true. Does anyone out there have some info on this? Is it a Democratic dirty trick, playing on the fears of mothers everywhere? I would love to reply to my friend with some concrete information. I know Israel has a mandatory draft, and it's a good thing, but I'm not sure how well it would go over here in USA.
Your help my lovable pj bloggers, is desperatly needed.
Ok look here are the guys pushing this:
Mr. RANGEL DEMOCRAT - NY
Mr. MCDERMOTT DEMOCRAT-WA
Mr. CONYERS DEMOCRAT-MI
Mr. LEWIS of Georgia DEMOCRAT-GA
Mr. STARK DEMOCRAT-CA
Mr. ABERCROMBIE DEMOCRAT - Hawaii
Notice something? All Democrats
You only have to worry if Hanoi John French Kerry and his good friend, the sponsor of the bill, Democrat Congressman Charlie Rangle, are elected. Vote W and you'll be fine :)
I could care less how it "goes over in the USA".
Two years of mandatory service in the armed forces should be not only required but should be a prerequisite for the right to vote.
The greatest growth in population in the last ten years has been from recent immigrants who have no sense of identity with America. (Source: US Census Bureau).
Even fourth and fifth generation American kids are graduating from high school who don't know one damn thing about American history--they don't teach it.
Make two years of service mandatory. Raise the voting age to 25, install a poll test for intelligence and make an exception for all veterans that they have the right to vote immediately after their honorable discharge.
save for later
In short, a lot would have to happen, and there's no sign of any of it happening now. Even if the signs started to appear, it would take years to start units from scratch and make them combat effective by today's standards.
(p.s. I for one am glad you didn't get the T-shirt. Every time I see a 'Who's your Bagh-daddy' T-shirt, I feel embarassed for the guy wearing it.)
Now if they could just get the military heirarchy (who want no draft whatsoever), and the electorate (that literate 96% that knows a draft is counterproductive) and the congress (that will have no part of it) to go along, we'll be on to something.
At least we know that Al Sharpton wants a draft so the military can make the world safe for Tawana Brawley.
The GOP tactic is to point at the Rangel/whatever bill and say that proves no draft is in the GOP's plans. But, I've been predicting this for years. Before I stopped paying money for The Wussy Standard, they ran a constant drumbeat of columns about how we MUST increase the size of the military ... yet were always very vague on HOW to do it. That, coupled with the mind-numbing "Patriotism!" "National Greatness!" agitprop there and in TNR, makes you just KNOW where the neocons stand. Jeez, they're on record for Clinton's national service crap already.
The question is, "How much influence do these effeminate warmongers still have in the White House?"
Notice something else? Charlie Rangel is, like, the most conservative RAT on that list. Unbelievble as that seems.
Stark, McDermott, and Conyers? ANSWER's pet Congressmen? Holy Ike!
Wonderama, I hope you and your buddies have big, long email lists...
Rangel is a big-mouth and a race-baiter.
In an interview about this bill, he implied that he wanted to see the Bush twins drafted.
Troll!!!!!!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6027815/ The Dems are spreading the fear on the campaign trail
LOL, yea I didn't want one of those dumb a** shirts...now if there was a Hard Rock Cafe Baghdad shirt that would have fit in well with my HR Cafe Bosnia and Budapest shirts!
1. Have you registered for a draft?
2. Is there a selective service administration? www.sss.gov
3. Are the democrats going to take power in the November election?
If you can answer no to any of those questions, you should be OK for now.
Your right it would it would be total FUBAR!!
ANYTHING is possible! .....except truth from a democrat
The daily routine of a working PR man, Hubbard wrote, consisted of
[b]ribing newspapermen and "free lance writers" to write horrible lies about a competitor, bribing or lying to Congressmen or ministers or members of Parliament to get a law passed to enable a fast buck to be made and countering the ploys of the other firm's PR ...
PR could properly be described as a partially workable technique that was capable of changing "states of mind in different types of audiences or publics." In this regard, it could sometime be misused. To prevent this sort of misuse, Hubbard wrote that he had done further study on the subject in order to "find out what was wrong with it."
His findings were that PR was dangerous, was prone to failure and could be turned against one by the competition.
"Progressive" is a code word for socialist, note that Sanders of VT is an officer.
Why these people are allowed to get on national TV and not disclose or be asked by the press reagrding their membership in a socialist organization is beyond me.
