I have heard this before -- it looks like he also demonstrated as a member of the Ready Reserve. I guess it is too much to expect our lazy, biased media to actually research. If they spent 1/10th as much time researching Kerry and his Vietnam record and after as they have President Bush's ANG, they might actually find the truth. But since that doesn't fit the media agenda, I don't expect much investigative journalism against Kerry.

Rules, Laws just don't apply to elite snobs. He should get Medals just for rubbing elbows with us common folk.

No.

The military got rid of Kerry fair and square.

False allegations or suggestions just take away weight from the real facts.

DD 214 shows 17 Feb 72 terminal date of Reserve Obligation for John Kerry

http://www.johnkerry.com/pdf/jkmilservice/DD214.pdf

Kerry's anti war activities were doing this period!

John Kerry and War Crimes in Vietnam
(He was in command of a Swift Boat
and ordered his men to do these things.
Listen to this 1971 audio clip)

What is Senator John Kerry's relationship to VVAW?

http://www.vvaw.org/faq/#4

Since Vietnam Veterans Against the War's inception in 1967, tens of thousands of vets, GIs and supporters have participated in and supported the actions of VVAW. One of those members in the early 1970s was John Kerry. Kerry was appointed to the VVAW Executive Committee to assist in preparing Dewey Canyon III, VVAW's limited incursion into the land of Congress in 1971 (Nicosia, 98-99). Kerry made his greatest contribution to the anti-war movement and to VVAW in his speech to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on April 23, 1971 (Brinkley, 371-373: Hunt, 109-110; Nicosia, 136-138; Wells, 495).

Content of the speech is found at:

http://lists.village.virginia.edu/sixties/HTML_docs/Resources/Primary/Manifestos/VVAW_Kerry_Senate.html.

By 1972, John Kerry had moved on from VVAW (Brinkley, 406: Hunt, 127-128; Nicosia, 211).

I thought that if you recieved three, ahem, "purple hearts" you were excused form further military service. I'm not sure, just raising the question.

The Individual Ready Reserve IRR does not meet or train. Basically, the military records reside in a file drawer in St. Louis. I don't know how it worked for Naval officers, but for Army enlisted one would enlist or get drafted and you would have a military obligation of six years. Enlistees would serve three of those years in active service and then would separate from active service and serve the remaining three years in the ready reserve. Draftees would serve two years in the active service and the remainder in the ready reserve.

There are no regular IRR meetings so Kerry could not be criticized for not attending them.

As an officer, I wouldn't doubt that the rules for the RR were different. In any case, the RR doesn't meet or drill.

Why do the Dims, "liberals", traitors, etc. get a pass on EVERYTHING?

If you control the press, media and culture, you control everything.

The right has to wise up and fast before it's too late if it's not already. I'm very pessimistic. Please tell me I'm wrong and that there's hope.

I'm not sure how it worked back then, but when I was in you had an 8-year obligation. So, if your active duty was for 4 years, you still owed 4 in the IRR, where you basically showed up once per year. If your enlistment was a 6 year, then you spent two years in the IRR, and reported in once per year... No drills, etc... just ready to be called up if they needed you...

I detest Kerry, but this is a bogus issue. According to the official records released by Kerry, he was released from active duty on Jan 3, 1970 into the inactive naval reserves. On July 1, 1972 he was transferred to the Standby Reserves (inactive).

According to his Release from Active Duty orders, paragraph 3, "you will regard yourself released from all active duty and transferred to inactive duty in the Naval Reserves." Paragraph 6 states that, "While on inactive duty, your are subject to involuntary recall to active duty to the extent authorized by federal statue. Inform the command having custody of yur service record...of any change in health which prevent service in time of war. You shall promptly answer all official correspondence addressed to you as such....

Paragraph 7 states, "In the event you plan travel or residence in foreign countries for a period in excell of 30 days, notice of intent will be submitted to the command having custody of your service record. Such notice should include destination, expected duration of travel or residency, and forwarding address.

The bottom line is that Kerry did not have to attend any drills.

He would automatically become part of the "Ready Reserve" for the next two years, and, as such, would be required to attend weekend training and camps.

If memory serves, this statement is accurate. However if one were assigned to a location over a certain distance from your home, you were not required to attend.

At the time, I lived north of Pittsburgh, PA, and was assigned to a location somewhere in the midwest and never went once. The Army was trying to get rid of people, and this sort of thing was pretty common.
