Vanity: Is protecting Constitution no longer goal of Freerepublic.com?
Me

I have recently noticed that the home page of Free Republic no longer has the icon at the top which states that one of the goals of this website is protecting our freedom and our Constitution. Can anyone help me shed some light on this? I would hope that this is a temporary change and not an official declaration made by the staff of this website. With the lack of articles and lack of alarm posted on this website about the Draconian Patriot 1 and Patriot Act 2 I have began to wonder about whether this site really does support the Constitution.

Like the right to own property, free from goobermint confiscation through "asset forfeiture"?
Change your habits/your lifestyle
Like the right to be secure in our homes and persons, free from ninja suited rambo wannabes breaking in our houses and shooting unarmed people?
Change your habits/your lifestyle and your friends
Like the right to be free of unreasonable search and seizure, like those conducted at road blocks and traffic stops?
Change your habits/your lifestyle and your friends and those you associate with
All these things and more are the consequences of your beloved WOsD.
Nope.
They are a result of chocies yo nake regarding your habits/your lifestyle and your friends and those you choose to associate with ...

We delete threads that are posted by the DU trolls, the tinfoil hat trolls, the anti-American trolls, the AFer trolls, etc., etc. If you can't live with that, then you might consider joining a different forum.

I never thought I would see the day that the Constitution was called an extraneous thing on this forum, being that it was founded with the Constitution as the number one issue. While I detest leftists, and the President is conservative and respected. I do not believe he is infallible and hope to God this forum does not enable room for what color suit is the President wearing today, threads and let the Constitution, immigration, and other political activist concerns be extraneous things, that there is no room for.

Sheesh! She was referring to the images on the front page. We had some system problems yesterday and, in an effort to eliminate some of the outgoing traffic, I temporarily took down ALL of the images from the front page, including this one:

As one who {{{DUCK! INCOMING!!!}}} USED TO vote libertarian (note the small "l") because I didn't feel the Republican Party truly represented my views, I really appreciate the efforts of Jim, all those who support this site, and FR's consistent support of the GOP.
I now realize that it's VERY important to support the Republican party and put all of our weight/resources behind them, because they are our best chance to save the republic (thus the name "Agenda Express" - I am now on board).
As has been eluded to numerous times elsewhere in this forum, the socialists/communists have essentially taken over the Democratic Party. In order for those who really value the Constitution and the goals of our founders to succeed, we need to be unified and change the system from within. Being devisive and creating "factions" (See: libertarian party) will not help our cause.
Thank you Jim - and all of you who support and defend true liberty - for all that you do for the GOP - and for the forum for us to express our views.
Sincerely -
Agenda Express

They are a result of chocies yo nake regarding your habits/your lifestyle and your friends and those you choose to associate with ... That's an astoundingly uninformed answer.
Over 80% of the people who get their property ripped off by the goobermint are never even charged with a crime, let alone convicted.
There have been hundreds of incidents where rambo drug warriors kicked in doors - only to find out they were in the wrong house, or that there were no drugs.
For the hundreds stopped and harassed at roadblocks, very few are found with drugs.
And seeing as you know zip about my "lifestyle", try changing yours and begin thinking for a change.

By the way, there is no lack of articles or alarm on this site regarding the "Draconian Patriot 1 and Patriot Act 2." They get posted and debated on a daily basis. And, again, if we had a decent judiciary, these things would get tossed out pronto. And, perhaps they will be. Who is going to give us the "decent judiciary" to toss these things out?
The same republican Congress and Executive branch that passed this junk into law to begin with?

I had no idea what 'extraneous things' meant. Obviously I thought the poster meant many subjects.I was at work and I did not FReep yesterday.
I now understand, and was as shocked as if you announced you were pulling for Al Sharpton ;-)

I will probably be sorry I said this, but many FReepers don't care about the Constitution, Freedom or Civil Liberties right now.
The fact is that allot of people here are still fighting the Primary battle.. They never gave up (either side, winners or losers) and they will continue to fight about it until there's another Democrat in the oval office to take aim at.
That, unfortunately, is the truth.

And these are the tactics that I am opposed to. Whether or not the people of a state vote to legalize drugs is no concern of mine. I would vote no if it comes up on my ballot. However, I am adamantly opposed to swat raids, no knock warrants, illegal searches, illegal phone taps, violations of privacy, roadblocks, asset forfeiture, etc., etc.

Let me do a Boolean logic transformation on this phrase:
anti-"War On Drugs" ==> "pro-drugs" BZZZZZT! Wrong, as usual.

That's an astoundingly uninformed answer. It's my Dr. Laura inspired answer - it's honest, it's spot and it's the truth ...
Avoid those temptations for sin/breaking the law - you'll stay honest, clean and sober -
- and your girlfriend won't get pregnant either ...

Change your habits/your lifestyle Oh, so it's ok for the government to take someone's property without convicting them or even charging them with any crime because you don't like their lifestyle? And you think this is in any way compatible with the principles of limited government and individual rights?

I believe there are many who actually believe that, or at least pretend to so as not to have to actually confront a freightening reality.
