Internet users are mocking AI platform ChatGPT for its latest update - as OpenAI founder Sam Altman revealed it would now feature erotica.
Altman took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday to share that come December, the system will offer erotica for 'verified adults' using the chatbot.
'We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right,' Altman began his message.
He continued: 'Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.
'In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!).
'In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our "treat adult users like adults" principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults,' he concluded.
In response to Altman's post, many users mocked the new offering, as they couldn't believe what they were reading.
'2023: AI will cure cancer. 2025: soon we will achieve AI erotica for verified adults,' one person wrote.
'OpenAI: "We need to be extremely careful with AI safety" Also OpenAI: "Anyway, ChatGPT will write you custom porn if you're 18+,"' another wrote.
Another seconded, 'This has to be the first time the CEO of a $1b+ valued company has ever used the word "erotica" in an update about their product.'

That wouldn’t be surprising at all.
AI is only as good as the humans who feed it information. All it is, is another platform to be manipulated and abused by criminals.
Look at it this way: as AI provides the ability to make highly realistic porn that suits the viewers fantasies, it will reduce demand for actual human porn, especially amateur stuff like Only Fans, where the models may or may not do what the viewer wants. This will remove an option, for young women especially, that can lead to mental and physical harm.
My ChatGPT doesn’t even use illustrations. I think you can adjust the settings to keep it that way.

It sent me on a tangential 90-minute journey (via YouTube and Wikipedia) back to the 60's when I was in high school bands playing covers of Airplane and other SF bands. Although we were mostly a garage rock band, "Pillow" was a musically life-changing formative album for me and my bandmates.

Much of CGI was driven by gamers. They wanted more detailed characters and faster rendering speeds. A lot of the early internet was driven by porn. Throw in the fact that there is now a Hollywood movie star who is completely CGI. The future is definitely coming (whatever the hell that means).

Age verify? How are they going to do that? The porn is the bait, the catch is more information about the users to sell to others. The computer ID links the user to all the sites they visit, the Internet provider tells them where you are, and now you add the last piece, your name and age.
I got the impression this was simply textual erotica. SO they have opened the doors to image, animation and video?
