'We are f***ed,' an exasperated police officer candidly declares as he patrols a Chevron gas station in Oakland, California, during the morning rush.
But the officer, who's picked up an overtime shift to keep watch and act as a deterrent, wasn't just referring to the theft epidemic when he made the strikingly blunt assessment.
'I can go behind the cars and try and turn on my lights, but why would they stop?'
Suspects are aware of these policies and it means if they flee at speed, police often won't even follow. This cop is simply there to try and prevent crimes taking place.
Less than a mile away from the Chevron, a Shell gas station on Hegenberger Road is also plagued by thefts. Around five hundred yards from the Shell, another Chevron is another hotspot. And next to that, the parking lot of an In-N-Out Burger is hit daily.
Police say the criminals, who operate in well-organized groups, follow the same playbook: a spotter keeps watch for targets, usually rentals headed to or from the airport, as they pull up at the gas stations.
They then alert accomplices, who pull up in a vehicle when the targets start to pump fuel. Often, they smash a rear window or pop the trunk of unlocked vehicles before making off with luggage and valuables. The thefts take just seconds.
The spike has earned the Shell the nickname 'America's most dangerous gas station'. The two Chevron sites are also top contenders.
One shocking video from the In-N-Out parking lot shows a thief smash into a black SUV in broad daylight. The crook leans, feet off the ground, through the vehicle's rear window and snatches up several items before escaping into a waiting getaway car as more than a dozen onlookers watch

Nobody cares... until someone’s injured... and the injured party’s lawyers uncover all the violations... and the formerly carefree people are sweating through the deposition... then they’ll care.
Chevron, Shell, Marathon...absolute NO stops anywhere in the country. LOL.
The problem is that the law will actually go after law-abiding citizens while the criminals are free to do as they please.
I mentioned a similar scenario several times in threads here about electric vehicle charging stations being a great spot for gangs to pounce on, if EV’s were going to become mandatory. There would never be enough charging stations to accommodate all those cars, and people would be lined up behind one another, with no egress possible. They’d be sitting ducks for criminals. If they’re doing it at gas stations, then they’d do it at EV charging stations.
No wonder no one wants to be a Policeman in Oakland, CA. Risk your life for people who hate you.
and it is breaking their oaths to uphold the constitution and the laws of the land.
Newsome.Our next resident.
Buckle up.
Is a double double cheeseburger worth the risk? Only if you have nothing in your car or in your trunk or on your person that could be considered resellable.
I go to this location fairly often. Nothings ever happened to me. But I stay away from the drive-thru. It doesn’t feel safe.
“”I can go behind the cars and try and turn on my lights””
TRY to turn on the lights? Is that a difficult thing to do?
When asked why he robbed banks, Sutton simply replied, “Because that’s where the money is.”
and the cops can’t figure it out, you fight crime where crime is, not where you want it to be...
That’s why I support disbanding all police departments. We’ve reached a point where the police do nothing to prevent crime, but they will arrest you or me if we use firearms to defend our lives and property. Therefore we must eliminate the police so there will be no one to harass law abiders who dispense street justice.
You won't like what will replace them.
Arm up and band together and end it or stfu and take it. Those are the choices.
I got robbed at gunpoint at a McDonald's drive-thru in the center of Philadelphia some years ago, on the main Broad Street, a few blocks from City Hall. You have to go behind the building and exit into a side street and then back to the main street. A guy stuck a handgun right in the window at my face. I gave him all the money I had on me, which wasn't much, and then started praying for him. He said, "Shut up, lady," but he went away.
God protected me that day.
He means that turning on his lights is now ineffective because the law no longer lets cops pursue in a car. So he does it, but because it doesn't work, it feels like trying instead of succeeding.
It’s not the cops’ fault if the woke city council and district attorney pass laws that cripple police operations, and then let the criminals back out on the street with no consequences.
A perch, a Winchester Model 70, and a bunch of white feathers.
This is what the democrats want for ALL cities throughout the USA.
How do they get people to work there? Who would want to work there? Does the company make employees sign a waiver, stating their families won’t sue for negligence if their loved one is killed due to the consistent and predictable inability of the company to provide even the most basic security? Why do these large corporations remain in such a dangerous area - leaving both their employees and customers in such danger?
