Most big corporations, like Shell, Chevron, In-N-Out Burger, would have closed by now, for economic and safety reasons. It’s kind of strange that this hasn’t happened.

How do they get people to work there? Who would want to work there? Does the company make employees sign a waiver, stating their families won’t sue for negligence if their loved one is killed due to the consistent and predictable inability of the company to provide even the most basic security? Why do these large corporations remain in such a dangerous area - leaving both their employees and customers in such danger?

Danger?

It’s like a war zone. People get used to it. It’s the new norm. They go to work realizing there will be lawlessness and maybe gun play or murder. They live with it.

A good example is many years ago I had lunch at a USAF cafeteria and sat beside a young black air force girl. I asked her how she liked it up here. She said she was scared because there were no sirens. The sound of sirens made her feel safe. I could not believe it.

A siren typically means someone needs medical attention right now, there’s a fire or there is some sort of crime. In a red state a siren in not a good thing to hear.
