DEAR ABBY: I’m a 32-year-old woman. My 20s were spent in a serious long-term relationship. It was a lot of firsts for me. After we split, I took a couple of years to sow my wild oats and find out who I am as an individual.
I’m now looking for something more than “friends with benefits.” However, the last few men I’ve met and gone on dates with, as wholesome as they seemed on dating sites (which have been my main source of meeting men), were really just looking for hookups. I want to find a life partner.
I have been chatting with a potentially great guy I met online, and we have a date scheduled. But I’m nervous that when we meet that he’ll expect more than a date. I’m over that. Like I said, I want an actual relationship.

I read today. Laughable.
I’m now totally convinced Dear Abby is a computer.
That's her best bet in finding the guy she wants, even if she's not religious. But she's not going to do that. Likely scenario? Cat lady.
LOL, “sow wild oats,” ie. slut around.
The problem is, my dear, you’re now too old. What were you doing ten years ago when nice guys wanted something serious and long term? Oh, they bored you? Sorry, life is not a do-over.
I doubt that’s her. Who adds a pic to a Dear Abby letter?
Dear Abby: I carried on like a slut but now I want to settle down and men are only interested in me for sex. What is wrong with them?

Tacos?
“...sow my wild oats and find out who I am as an individual.”
So, she just wanted one thing. How can she complain now about the guys? They may be trying to find out who they are are as an individual.
It’s Dear Abby which is simply fiction. Fake people write fake letters that real but deluded people read as though they have meaning, all while the readers’ attentions are being sold to advertisers.
1st stop shoving food into your mouth, 2nd stop being a ho
and your problems will start to go away
As a woman who goes to the gym 5x a week and was a virgin when I met my husband, I can tell you it's more complicated than that. If a woman works outside the home she's "emasculating". If she doesn't she's a gold-digger. If she has a high body count she's a slut. If she has a low body count she's a prude. If she wants kids, she's trying to tie her man down. If she doesn't want kids, there's something wrong with her. I gave up trying to figure out how to please a white American man in my 20's and found myself an Asian man who didn't play such games. Saved myself a fortune in liquor store bills and XXL men's clothes too, but that's just the icing on the cake.
Anyone who says pleasing men is simple has never actually tried dating one.
It’s a Getty image/stock photo
And the column is essentially the same thing in word form. If it is not AI, it’s some poor sucker who has really pissed off his/her boss and is in newspaper purgatory.
How about asking him what he is looking for. Gee, can no one think for themselves how to find out answers to their own questions anymore?
That’s where gay people go to hook up these days.
It’s not true that men only want one thing, in fact, that’s a lie that defames men and I hear it all the time.
But is is true that men do want that thing, and they want it a lot, and they will lie, cheat, and occasionally use force to get it - and interacting socially with men and not being aware of that can cause a lot of trouble.
PROCEEDING WITH CAUTION , find a nice church, attend every Sunday and join in with the other Church activities. You’ll meet several nice men in short order.Make ‘em court ya!
Women roll up a high body count in their 20’s, then want a real man in their 30’s. Oops. Not a good strategy. Just get more tattoos.
Sounds like a very high mileage woman, who is well past her “best used by date”, is lamenting that she is unable to land the perfect guy. LOL.
Exactly right. If something were to happen to my bride, no way in hell would I date these days.
When I hit about 23 my dad, an old school gentleman (who wanted grandchildren) said to me that 30+ bachelor is likely to never get married (or stay married if he does) because by then he is looking for the perfect woman...who obviously does not exist.
If the woman writing this is real, she is learning that the hard way.
