Nostalgia has been erased in a revamp of the 1980s classic My Little Pony with the once-whimsical characters now pushing progressive political messaging, and the baddies painted as being 'anti-science'.
Netflix's woke My Little Pony: A New Generation introduces its young viewers to themes of tolerance, prejudice and even fascism as it turns the colorful tiny horses into political pawns.
The film depicts anti-magic ponies - the 'the baddies' - as ignorant anti-science creatures likely to spread irrational fear and untruths.
It also includes a cameo from a character called Deputy Sprout – complete with a tuft of blond mane and bushy eyebrows – who is portrayed as the antagonist. The character appears to be based on former president Donald Trump.
The entitled and spoiled pony takes a bigoted attitude toward unicorns and the Pegasus, and sets out to battle against them. He later atones for his rage-filled ways after losing the battle to his magical enemies, who outpowered him with their friendly and harmonic ways.
The demagogue character is a strong contrast to cheerful Sunny (voiced by Vanessa Hudgens), a curious and optimistic animal who wants to restore Equestria's harmony and magic.
The film's heroine strives to make peace with outsiders, and teams up with others in an effort to make a more impactful change.
'I think that it really reflects the times,' Hudgens told ABC 6. 'My character believes in inclusion and friendship.'
Kimiko Glenn, who voiced good unicorn Izzy, agreed.
'It's such a sweet little message to be reminded of,' Glenn told the outlet. 'Until you've experienced someone, you can't know how they actually live. We flourish when we come together.

Vanessa Hudgens…ah yes, the chick that posed for beaver shots. Outstanding “kids” show…
Beware the Insurrectionist Ponies.
Well, it is the streaming service that brought us “Cuties” and other similar gems...
And this wokeness and its affect on our culture is funded by Netflix subscribers...
Next...My Little Glue Factory.
Science.
Ah...forced group think ("We're building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude".)
Do they all have equal signs at their cutie marks in this one?
I read about the pro LGBT cartoons on Netflix being pushed by the obama admin (some of his people were Board members) and could not believe it. I watched several and found it was true and for young children. Two Men kissing, two women kissing daughter being raised by two men. Coming out party. All kinds of stuff. I dropped Netflix by the time cuties came up. I read where they have adult cartoons now that are pornographic. I am not missing Netflix.
I figured everybody was watching The Squid Game.
I watched this with my family, and didn’t detect any of the bad things mentioned in this article.
We watched it only after reading the review at Plugged In ( https://www.pluggedin.com/movie-reviews/my-little-pony-a-new-generation-2021/ ).
I personally think the movie was enjoyable, innocuous, and maybe even “good.”
Our family also dropped Netflix when Cutties came out..although I am bummed it means I won’t be able to watch the Witcher season 2...but still, don’t think I have a choice. We don’t support networks that support kiddie porn, ever.
Believing in unicorns and talking ponies is the ultimate in “anti-science.”
God, I miss the ‘80’s version of My Little Pony... Y’know, the good one I grew up with and which was truly about unity and forgiveness.
Escape from Katrina, FTW. I think I have it on VHS somewhere...
Anti-Science = believing computer models are more accurate climate predictors than actual ice cores from Greenland.
I watched it, it was OK, not as good as the previous generation. In a world where the ponies have lost their magic the three pony tribes (”Earth” ponies, pegasi and unicorns) have divided themselves into separate, and deeply suspicious groups. An idealistic young mare tries to bring back the magic while the town deputy comically becomes a wannabe dictator. Pretty much standard Hollywood fare.
Cartoons were great with Wild E Coyote & the Roadrunner, Tom & Jerry, Bugs & friends, Super Friends, Robotech, Star Blazers, Foghorn Leghorn, and all the Looney Tunes.
I reckon the mwi interpretation of quantum mechanics implies talking pink unicorns in some tiny fraction of parallel worlds which are invisible to us here in our world. Of course I don’t consider such a silly speculation science, but there are many who do.
The last one made two ponies homosexuals on the last series finale. This will be a massive failure.
