the protestants in germany came up with the term to apply to themselves btw.
hardly.
the protestant God did not found on church, fullfill the old testament, and didn’t send the Holy Spirit to guide his church, instead a bunch of iliterate west europeons were needed to save the church, and arrived vry late to the party at that.
angry iliterate west europeons of the 14th century perhaps?
in as much as Jesus IS God yeah.
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves."
Read your catechism and you will realize that there is NOTHING to apologize for or anything else.
This comes from the section The Church and non-Christians. The section talks about the Church's relationship with Jews, then its relationship with Muslims, and then it's relationship with other non-Christian religions. Following this, it talks about the truth of the statement, "Outside the Church There is No Salvation" (see my tagline). It sums up saying the following:
Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation. (emphasis mine)and then:
"Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men."(emphasis mine)
Why are you apologizing for God's Divine Mercy???
The best solution is to let these ravenous wolves prowl and not give them the meat that they seek.
And I thought Rome never changed ---- so much for Tradition.
Wasting his time at what??? Converting me to your religion??? You'd be right about that...That would be an impossibility...
I'll stick with bible Christianity and the God of the Bible...You can have the God of the Koran...
I'm speechless, and my husband says that's not possible.
angry iliterate west europeons of the 14th century perhaps?
I'm not usually the snarky type, but if you're going to refer to some of my ancestral and spiritual forebears as "iliterate" "europeons", perhaps you should learn to spell the insults correctly?
By the way, the word protestant was first used at the Diet of Speyer in 1529. The various princes and others called their statement a "protestatio" - that is, a solemn declaration, not "a statement recording disapproval".
What are you talking about!!??
Amen, mark.
Take it easy, friend. I may be wrong, but I doubt anyone is convinced of the charge.
The West talks about God a lot differently than the East. As a Lutheran, while we think of some things more like the East, most of our theology follows more the West (which makes sense). I had never really thought of it till reading Pelakin’s books.
What are you talking about!!??
Perhaps he's referring to that picture of the Pope kissing the Koran --- but that picture never made it into the Catechism unfortunately, atleast the Catechism that has been circulated in the non-Muslim world, that is.
Tragic.
A tour de force of complete misinterpretation of Scripture and Catholic teaching.
Thanks for posting.
Ping us when any Protestant leader says anything of any import in this debate. Maybe they have and nobody noticed.
If I were to put together a top 10 stupidest things said on FreeRepublic, you would have at least 70% of them. Congratulations on that.
Protestants believe in the Trinity, Father, Son & Holy Spirit. We believe in Christ's divinity. What other Jesus is there, that we worship another one from the one you do? I can think of only one possibility & he is not Jesus Christ.
Considering what you've been taught about us, I finally understand why you seem to despise us.
I don’t know whether to laugh in humor or laugh at the conspiracy theories. :-Þ
mockingbyrd: Seems pretty disingenuous to me.....or a deliberate misrepresentation of the quote. The context is completely misrepresented. If the author is writing in truth, why such deception?
The exact quote - verbatim - appears at this link on Zenit. Note that the phrase isn't found in the article; instead, it's found at the top of the page, under the "ASIAN SYNOD day by day" banner, in Zenit's summary of articles for the day. I'll reproduce the summary here, since no one seems to have gone to the source itself, despite my providing a direct link back in post #9.
