ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.
An embarrassing day to be associated with this forum, Pukin.
Reason has taken a back seat to hysteria, and childish attacks.
Time to call it a night........after I wash off the dirt of the things I have read on this thread.
A BAD day for Free Republic.
The governmental body that "slam dunked" the approval of this transaction was created by Executive Order...not the Constitution.
Sorry but I was not replying to you. And from your disjointed reasoning - you probably have no idea of the post I was replying to.
"I do believe it is standard practice to rationalize the genius of Dubya retroactively, in such a way that one's previous incorrect predictions simply become another part of the brilliant master plan."
More like overly excited, former "Risk" game players who had no girlfriends in high school thinking there is a master stratergy.
Much as I don't like the Arabs forcing them to make a go of the New Orleans crowd seem cruel somehow ;-)
How do you figure that? The congress could just disolve CIFUS tomorrow through legislation if it wanted to and if it had enough votes to override the veto it would be gone.
After 9/11 we deserve a detailed explanationwhy this is a good thing. No b.s. no spin, no simple slogans, we are deserving of an explanation.
I was responding to the fact that the Muslims don't respect weakness. Calling them a 'religion of peace', and saying, "We're as outraged as you are about cartoons depicting Muhammed" does nothing but confuse the weak-minded on our side and empower the jihadists. It's suicidal.
You must have missed the last top secret security breifing. ;)
make any argument that allow a state run UAE company will IMPROVE the security situation? I even heard some dude on MSNBC, who was for this acquisition, make the astounding statement that allowing a mideast company to operate the ports, would be good because it would force DHS to increase its security profile. there's a great strategy for you, allow people you are afriad of to run the ports, so you are scared enough to improve security. hell, with that logic, let's sell the ports directly to Al Qaeda.
Your rationalization is awesomely lame.
A BAD day for Free Republic.
Naaaa,..a great day for the UAE:
UAE Contractor's Brother in law: "Hey Sharik, we got the contract. Bush said so!! Call the brotherhood and lets throw a rave tonight at the Oasis Bar."
GWB has been a royal flush down the toilet on immigration.
Like red herrings ? Go to Pike Street.
I am afraid, sir, that you have me all wrong......
I am one the biggest hawks you will find when it comes to fighting terror, but that also includes knowing who the enemy is.......
The enemy is Radical Islam, not those striving to be like us, within the constraints of their own systems. There isn't a legal reason on the books NOT to follow through with this deal, and all you are doing is reinforcing the Stereotype of the Ugly American...
You may not "give a flyhing f**k" what the Arab press thinks, but if you have any hope of a victory in the war we have folks dying in, you had better start.........
Who speaks for all Muslims that he can declare war on the United States? Do they have a pope?
GWB has been a royal flush down the toilet on immigration.
yeah. Why doesn't he let the mexicans run the ports down at the rio grande?
Yes, so said but never proven. Possible.
Yeah, interesting what party injected skin color into the equation. Hmm.
Are you drinking? Are you blood brothers with Dane?
