That would be my take as well. Look, you wouldn't catch me taking my wife or friends over there to travel around widely. I don't think many people would.

I thought Dubya's position on immigration was bizarre and puzzling, but this blows that away. I'm anything but a Bush Basher. I supported him both times and heartily applaud the most important thing he has done thus far, which was to appoint two justices to SCOTUS. We can't know how they'll turn out, but I think he did about as good a job as we could hope on that front.
All that said, and without even looking through much of the thread, I know there are undoubtedly the "Bush knows what he's doing" and "we don't know everything" posts, from posters who would find something positive no matter what Bush does.
Sorry, but it doesn't matter WHAT is going on behind the scenes, for there is NOTHING that could possibly be going on in the world right now that would justify his position on this issue. NOTHING. There is NO way a country like UAE is so important and powerful in ANY regard as to warrant support of this sheer insanity, and if you think it is, you desperately need to strip off the blinders. This is an unconscionable position.

US investigators believe about half the $500,000 that the hijackers spent on the September 11 plot was sent by Mustafa Ahmad, who is today regarded by investigators as bin Laden's finance chief, via Dubai money exchanges through Citibank in New York and on to Florida. If you're going after Dubai, I suggest you go after Citibank too, since its network ultimately delivered the money to the hijackers.

EgyptAir, among other airlines, has direct flights and connector flights to the US.
There are also numerous shipping companies whose ships travel to the U.S.
If I were Jewish, I'd be ultra-cautious, too. You have every right, and I'll support you.

The fact is, you wouldn't take your family and friends over there to travel widely. You know it and I know it. If you want to play fantasy head games go ahead. Others understand why I say this and can see you for what you are, for not admitting that it would be extremely foolhardy.

It seems that Australia isn't too keen on UAE...Yet they allow this company to operate their port at Melbourne.
Have an explanation for that?

Or has the hysteria and ignorance abated now that the FACTS have been revealed? Nope. Facts don't matter to some people. If it's an Arab, he's got to be up to no good.

Thanks. I appreciate the post. It's really sad people have to be so damned dishonest when discussing these issue.

Another interesting concept that the DEMOCRATIC PARTY has as part of their agenda. I would assume that the Nationalization of US ports would then immediately mean that all workers at the Ports would be unionized to bring out the Union Vote.
Interesting "coincidence" this week both Bill and Hillary met with Joyce Aboussie former long-time aid and confident of Dick Gephardt. She's a real pro, especially at strategising the vote in middle America and courting the Unions over the past 25+.
IMHO, regardless of who is operating the Ports, money talks and cooperation can be bought from anyone for a price.

I'm not real big on Shep Smith, either, after his New Orleans hysteria.
He's probably a rostafarian plant from Haiti. :>)

I don't know why it's so difficult to understand the difference between port security and port ownership.
