ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.
Don't you see? Miers was a brilliant tactic by Bush..
lol, I don't get these people.
Ping!
I respect your opinion as I do not know much about this business and look forward to seeing how the situation plays out.
I am just cautious to align myself with Hitlery or Schmuckie Schumer.
Either way, people are going to be pissed at Bushy.
As for Iran, I don't think Bush gets a daily briefing each morning about my activities, but he does of those running Iran.
the mass hysteria on this issue is sort of telling. don't people realize the democrats don't do anything if national security is at stake?
Excellent post; thanks for the ping, onyx.
Another freeper wondered if the UAE had given us permission for air space with regard to Iran or some other similar deal. My stepson was stationed in Jordan in early 2003 before we went into Iraq, although Jordan's cooperation was not publicized at the time at their specific request.
Forgive me if I believe in common courtesy.
More than that, you simply aren't worth the effort.
LOL I'm showering later!
Nothing you said has anything to do with you talking about another poster behind their back; you've been here long enough to know that's not appreciated on this forum, even if you and your pals think it's cute.
This isn't a chatroom.
I'd like to think so.
But then I remember the Harriet Miers nomination, which stands as one of the ultimate examples of GWB's capacity for extraordinarily bad judgment.
Whether there's a master strategic plan behind this or not, Bush simply doesn't have a political leg to stand on here. As with Miers, he's pursuing something so completely indefensible on its face that his own party can't support it (but Canal-sellin' Jimmy Carter can!).
As with Miers, all we're getting from Bush in defense of the indefensible is "TRUST ME." And, as with Miers, that just plain ain't good enough.

I heard Rush today for about 15 minutes and that was my take too.
Yep.
I was hearing a guy on Rush today (until I got interupted by a psycho customer of mine) who said Bush is allowing this to happen as part of a deal to combat terror. I didn`t hear the rest of it, but I assume a deal was stuck with the likes of "If you let us hold this port deal we can get you Osama or Zarqawi" or whatever, which to me would make sense. I mean think of it this way: If they offered Osamas head on a silver platter you think Bush is going to turn it down? If he could strike a major death blow to Al-Qaeda, I think he would give absolutely anything. But on the other hand, if it is found out that this is solely for money, or any other reason (which I doubt), Bush is finished. Democrats will tear him to shreds for the next 90 years.
Sitting here reading all of this, that is exactly what I was thinking especially in light of the news President Bush has a new BROTHER Bill Clinton.
Aha....... now there's a voice of reason!
Yep, right up there with his capacity for beating the Democrats in every fight.
US Customs still has complete control over port security.
Of course US Customs does not load containers. US Customs Inspectors are supposed to be watching P&Os workers now.
Your suggestion that there will be more for customs agents to watch out for is ridiculous.
Not only that, but it's not like DPW is trying to be secretive about this thing. "Dubai Ports World" isn't the kind of name you'd use for a company if you are a Muslim looking to infiltrate U.S. port security.
A name like "Rear Admirals and @ss Pirates Shipping, Inc." would have been enough to guarantee Chuck Schumer's support of the deal.
LOL
Up until recently I was a staunch Bush supporter. I wish I could still say I have confidence, but I really don't after this. I just think I heard John Gibson say that Jimmy Carter supports this deal. That says it all.
And I'm wondering why not?
