Hi NSNR - I so much agree with your post. WHY won't the US leaders do anything for this outstanding family? You bet their actions would be different had it been a politicians daughter. It is repulsive to me also.

America should NOT need any oil from Venezuela. btw - the Federal Liberals here are tied with the Conservatives in the latest polls. Yes Sheba the VDS's poured NEW cement in their back yard within that first TEN days. And why would Paul VDS "go crazy" at Tim Miller just for wanting to look through the cement? That stinks. Also he asked to search the abandoned well on the property. IF the VDS's were so concerned about getting the heat off them and they had nothing to hide, WHY wouldn't they have consented to a search warrant or just a plain search right away? NOPE, this family never even once offered to even help in a search for Natalee. They have done nothing but interfere and hide.

That's a good question, because I recall it being stated that the ground around the Fishermen's Huts was like sinking sand. As you try to dig, it fills in right behind you and you just keep sinking. Whoever placed that cross there KNOWS something and has a guilty conscience. They are attempting to send a message without revealing themselves.

it is very common to see Crosses in the ground at sites of fatal traffic accidents in the US.....they don't seem to get removed, but are maintained much like flowers in a cemetary. the Cross on the beach might be the equivalent, placed by a tourist or even some local.

When asked if cross has been dug up, Beth said she doesn't know. Dave brought cross to attention of authorities, But she doesn't know if authorities looked into it.

When asked if she knows who Joran's friend that has a boat is, Beth said, Yes, "Koon (sp?) is Joran's friend with the boat, which Joran has mentioned". The investigator Jacobs has messed up when Dave asked to have the Koon son picked up and questioned. Jacobs contacted the Koon father first - who could let the son know he was to be questioned.

When Beth was asked if she calls for a boycott, Beth said, "What needs to happen is Aruba needs to deal with its investigatory problems internally. It's not safe on that island".

They have been mentined as working in local surfshop. I don't remember much about it, but will see what I can find. I remember thinking it was more than a coincidence that they disappeared at the same time as Natalee.

So far I've found these references to the beach bums, mentioned on RWV on July 17, 2005:
We need to know about the two beach bums that worked at a surf shop. I read it was near one of the hotels, which one?
Who were the beach bums?
Were they American, Dutch, Aruban or other?
If they were employed there must be some sort of record. How long did they work there?
Did Natalee have any contact with them?
Did she or classmates visit the surf shop?
Why did the beach bums disappear the same day as Natalee?

One of the posters did some snooping...talked with a local and was told Alexander G is related to the sloots. It sounds like Koen and Joran are cousins...Alexander would be Joran's uncle.

Dave has been praised for keeping a cool head. I don't fault him for that. It appears he's now reached the point where he sees the Aruban police, justice system as untrustworthy. Whatever he thought about Beth's approach to this island's investigation of the death of their daughter, they may be on the same page now.

Beth had faith in some of the Arubans on the case, but they have dashed her hopes. Dave Holloway most likely has lost all trust in their sincere efforts to come up with real answers.

The "powers that be" in Aruba claim they have done and are doing everything they can to solve the case. Did they, from the gitgo? No. Are they now dedicated to finding out what happened? I don't think so!

They would not allow the FBI to investigate. Should we understand that they don't want a foreign investigative team to override their domain? Certainly, the U.S would not allow Holland to usurp our justice system.

Yet what sticks in the craw here is that Aruba has forfeited their right to claim they have, by anyone's account, properly sought to solve this case.

Unless somebody down there who has clout begins to get honest (and I'm not looking at Paulos!), an American boycott of the island is the only thing I can think of to squeeze them so tightly that somebody will talk. And the blame for that boycott can be attributed to Paulos van der Slooten, the three last known to be with Natalee, van der Straaten, Karen Jannsen, and a few others, if not more. I think they have brought it on themselves and the innocent people of Aruba.
