Video Exposes Medical Marijuana as Hoax - (shows addicts LOL-ing about what a joke the law is!)
A.I.M.ORG ^ | JUNE 30, 2005 | CLIFF KINCAID

Rhode Island Governor Donald L. Carcieri has vetoed a "medical marijuana" bill, saying it would encourage marijuana use and criminal activity. His veto comes as an anti-drug group has released dramatic video footage of a marijuana activist declaring that he uses dope for a health problem that he doesn't really have. The bottom line for this activist, Ed Rosenthal, is that "I like to get high. Marijuana is fun." The video has the potential of dealing a major blow to the "medical marijuana" movement, largely funded by billionaire George Soros.

The video footage, posted at the website http://www.sorosmonitor.com, gives the lie to the claim that we often see in the media that smoking marijuana is a legitimate medical treatment for people with diseases. Rosenthal, who was associated with High Times magazine for many years, is shown speaking to dozens of marijuana activists. "With all the talk about medical marijuana, I have to tell you that I also use marijuana medically (laughter)," he says. "I have a latent glaucoma, which has never been diagnosed (more laughter). And the reason why it has never been diagnosed is because I've been treating it (laughter)…But there is a reason why I do use it. And that is because I like to get high. (cheers, applause). Marijuana is fun."

The video proves that "medical marijuana" is a joke to those on the inside of the pro-pot movement who realize that getting the public and the media to accept the notion that smoking marijuana alleviates health problems is a major step down the road to complete legalization of dope.

It keeps my crippled arse walking, Jack, and has done so for twenty two years.
I'm sure there are expensive invasive medical programs that can do the same but no thanks.

Yeah, there is actually a campaign based on one specific kind of treatment when there are alternatives. We're not talking about a cure here, so this Soros et al. supported movement is troublesome.

... just don't corrupt science to justify getting high.

Tell that to the reefer madness crowd. There hasn't been an unbiased study by them in decades, unless you consider propaganda unbiased. They wouldn't recognize truth if you hit them upside their boneheads with it. Blackbird.

Soros seems to want to turn the United States into the Netherlands. And we know what a pillar of strength and world power the Dutch are....

It is the notion of 10 States, doctors, and more importantly, patients.

As for a major step down the road to legalization of dope, aren't amphetamines, pain killers, etc, already legalized with a prescription?

My first question to you is whether drug addiction is higher today because the population is also.

The addiction rate for opiates and cocaine in 2000 is a little over 3X the rate in 1900, according to USDOJ figures.

You say that the WOD is doomed just as the WOP was.

Since the WOD was made a cabinet level priority, drugs have become purer and cheaper, while demand has increased to some extent. I'd call that a failed big government program.

Here is a link to a collection of SAHMSA data on supply and demand since the early 1980's.

http://www.briancbennett.com

Poverty still exists, and it will exist for more generations regardless of the now defunct LBJ approach. LBJ's policies increased poverty by encouraging people to have babies, seperate from their fathers, and live off of someone else's money, while many of them went on drugs.

I agree. But you are on the same side as LBJ and the Liberals in your view of the general Welfare Clause. You have no principled constitutional argument against the Great Society. You already gave it up.

The libs want to turn America into Deadwood.

libertarians are just a marketing scheme designed to undermine president Bush and to minimize conservative momentum. What libertarian has ever been elected president of the U.S.? Thanks to them Clinnochio was elected.

Not a very nice thing to say about one of our best allies in the WOT. Rather than join with most of the other European backstabbers, the Dutch are fighting in Iraq alongside the Americans.

I tried to find your USDOJ stat, and I found this of interest, since you're interested in what the DOJ has to say: "The study concluded that smoking marijuana is not recommended for the treatment of any disease condition. In addition, there are more effective medications currently available. " Also, in 1880 addiction "skyrocketed". This was the case during periods of lax controls.

Many people don't even try drugs, just because it is illegal.

And many kids try drugs, simply because they ARE illegal. Of course, many of these kids are fresh out of D.A.R.E., and after smoking their first couple joints, think "hey, this ain't too bad! It certainly isn't as bad as that cop in my class was telling me! I wonder what other lies he told me about those other drugs?"

Also, it's definitely safe to say that anyone who currently wants drugs, can get their hands on them. Back in college, I smoked once in a while, and I certainly didn't have any trouble finding any.

The libs used the principle of the General Welfare clause for unsound policies. That is where they went wrong, not because they really wanted to help people (most of them). The General Welfare clause of the Constitution is there precisely for that, to state that that is what the Constitution is there for.

Some people might even plant some seeds in a flower pot on their patio, and discover that it doesn't seem to be having a substantial effect on commerce among the several states.

Heres a wild thought......legalization & taxation.
Funny how the % of cocaine addicts has never changed since it became illegal.

Actually, the % of cocaine addicts has probably increased since it was illegalized. Especially during that craze in the 80s.
