For all of those who have called me every imaginable name because I dare to suggest that there are some things worse than death...I don't wish you on you anything that poor woman goes through on a minute by minute basis. Because you know so much, and are so sure that you are right because you are all so freakin self-righteous...I'm leaving FreeRepublic because I no longer want to be a part of something that has become so twisted. Hannity is right, this website has been hijacked. It was a good run...but we'll find another place. Save your jabs, I won't be reading them. To those who have privately agreed with me, and there are many, thank you. I'm just worn out and frankly, don't even care what most here think.
Bump. Sorry about your loss and thanks for your thoughts.
Man cannot live off of troll bait alone. Besides I wouldn't want to get hooked.
When your "view" features such absurdities as "she's brain dead", or "her brain is gone" , or "she's a cadaver", then I don't even have the time of day for you.
Good day, sir.
She certainly doesn't look tortured to me. She appears happy actually in the videos. You know her personally no doubt since you know she wants to die however, so I must take your word for it right?
I have been around these boards for a long, long time. Long before I read about Terri and became STUNNED at the injustice of that case.
There is NO ONE ON FR who supports the right to die more than I do.
No one.
But that is not what this case is about, it is about EVERYTHING that FR stands for....the very foundations of our rule of law.
If you and Hildy think that supporting breathtaking injustice on the part of Judge Greer and felos and michael shiavo is NOT what FR is about, tough.
Hildy posted material that was FACTUALLY INACCURATE and it was pointed out to her....documentation rules at FR.
I don't want Hildy to leave, nor do I appreciate you saying those who support Terri are not really a part of FR.
Grow up.
All of us are a part of FR. That is what makes it so wonderful.
BREAKING RADIO NEWS: Representative Dennis Baxley just talked about Bill 701. He said he would INSURE THAT IT WOULD APPLY TO TERRI SCHIAVO! WFLA RADIO 11:32 p.m. est
Good riddance and don't hurry back.
As far as I am concerned, you and the other ambssadors of the culture of death will not be missed.
Two questions:
Since you and the others are so hot to kill someone, in this Terri, why don't you lead by example?
What has Terri ever done to harm you?
Why is her living so distasteful to you?
I have noticed, by the posts, extoling the virtures and joy of death and dying, informing others how painless it is to be starved to death that the right-to-die crowd never tries it upon themselves.
Why is this?
In closing, whatever you decide to do with your life, I respect and do not have any objections.
If you want to kill yourself, or starve yourself to death, have at.
But why vote to kill the other guy?
I am not hot to kill anyone. Neither you nor I know Terri's wishes, Michaels mind, or God's will. I have no problem with you disagreeing with me or anyone else. My problem is you and the people that agree with you cant stand a differing opinion. I cant even get anyone on your side to agree that a simple prayer is in order. May Gods will be done. I get the impression your side has a problem with that simple prayer. Which makes me wonder if your side winning this one supercedes Gods will. I have no problem with Terri being taken care of by her family for the next thirty or forty years if her husband agrees. I also have no problem with him pulling the feeding tube as ordered by the court. It is his call and until you can prove him wrong, it will happen legally.
All of the doctors agree on this case. Terris problems were brought on by her bulimia. She had a heart attack causing loss of oxygen to the brain for an extended time. Her higher brain has been replaced by spinal fluid.
Her doctors lost a malpractice lawsuit for not diagnosing and treating her bulimia.
The law has been followed and reviewed many times.
Her husband is her guardian by Florida law and by court order.
The court appointed guardian did not see any issues with Michaels treatment of Terri.
The US Supreme Court saw no constitutional issues with Florida law or this case so they refused to consider it.
If you dont like it, go work to change the law.
No abuse has ever been proven at any time by anyone.
You have no idea whether or not she wanted life support.
Her husband having a girlfriend and children has absolutely no legal bearing on this case.
What type of car he arrives in for court has absolutely no legal bearing on this case.
You are insisting on projecting your feelings into a matter that is not illegal and in my opinion none of your business or my business.
Who appointed you to speak for God? Have you ever stopped to think maybe Gods will was that she die on the day of her heart attack? Why not pray, "May God's will be done"?
In my opinion, your side of this issue is abusing a corpse to further your agendas.
Yup. But 3 little nitpicks... ; )
1. It wasn't a heart attack, it was cardiac arrest. That's critical, because you will see it said, "she had no heart attack as 'they' claim, so the cause of her collapse is in question." It isn't.
2. Her brain is mostly there, and she isn't brain dead (or she'd need a respirator). It's just the part of the brain that gives us conscious thought that is mostly or completely gone, and much of the rest is damaged.
3. Not just one, but 4 guardians over the years did not see any issues with Michaels treatment of Terri. Including the one who was admittedly biased against him (he is against pulling feeding tubes). All he said was that he worried about the financial aspect.
I do have issues with his letting her languish with no stim or therapy for contractures in the last few years. No matter what state she's in, we never know what goes on deep inside.
"Show me where the Bible says we keep cadavers breathing." By your definition, one is dead when breathing stops, correct? Since Terri is breathing, your point of purpose, is DOA. As to your query, "Show me where the Bible says..." perhaps Jesus and Lazarus would disagree. By the by, referencing the Holy Bible is not a strong suit, for advocating the death of an innocent- unless of course you are refering the Christ Jesus...in which case a bag of silver would be in order. Then again some people would have do so for no charge at all.
I agree with you on the cardiac arrest. To me when the heart quits working, I call it a heart attack.
I have read that her cerebral cortex and cerebellum are nonexistent and the only partially working part of her brain is the stem. My friend in Viet Nam had the same problem with the addition of a large section of the back of his scull missing. He reacted much like the clips they show of Terri. The doctors said his body could be kept alive until old age, but there was no hope of ever re-growing a brain or recovering.
My issue is not whether she should be turned over to her parents or have the feeding tube removed. My issue is with the people that lie about Michael to advance their agenda and use Terri to advance their agenda. Their advocating civil disobedience to prevent the carrying out of a lawful order makes me very angry. I am smart enough to know what I dont know. People who tell me exactly what Gods will is and refuse to allow any other opinions really get my blood boiling.
The only person that really knows what Terri told Michael about life support is Michael. I have no reason to doubt him. My wife has told me in the past that she doesnt want resuscitation, invasive procedures, or any form of life support. After following this case for several years beginning when we lived in Florida, we went to an attorney and made out living wills and powers-of-attorney. I would have reacted much like Michael in the same situation to follow my wifes wishes.
Read all of my posts before making stupid judgemental remarks that completely miss the mark.
and that because Terri's are unclear, she should go to her parents,
If that is what she said, then I was wrong and apologize.
Sometimes I go off half-cocked, heck, most of the time I go off half-cocked.
Like I said, if I was wrong, then I apologize.
I've read everyone's replies. Perhaps, mindreading is another weak suit in your arsenal of debating wit and reparte'.
Though, I do appreciate your unintended reference to sin. Amazingly, the truth is unrestrained, even by those who would have it disembodied for their ego's sake.
