Archeologist finds evidence of Old Testament Validity

Hamilton, Ontario, Jan. 28, 2005 (CNA) - Canadian archaeologist Russell Adams, a professor at McMaster University has recently unearthed evidence, which helps to show the historical accuracy of the Bible.

Professor Adams and his team of colleagues have found information that points to the existence of the Biblical Kingdom of Edom existing at precisely the time Scripture claims it existed.

The evidence flies in the face of a common belief that Edom actually came into existence at least 200 years later.

According to the Canadian Globe and Mail, the group’s findings “mean that those scholars convinced that the Hebrew Old Testament is at best a compendium of revisionist, fragmented history, mixed with folklore and theology, and at worst a piece of outright propaganda, likely will have to apply the brakes to their thinking.”

The Kingdom of Edom, mentioned throughout the Old Testament, and a continuous source of hostility for Biblical Israel, is thought to have existed in what is now southern Jordan.

The group made their discovery while investigating a copper mining site called Khirbat en-Nahas.

According to the Globe and Mail, radiocarbon dating of their finds, “firmly established that occupation of the site began in the 11th century BC and a monumental fortress was built in the 10th century BC, supporting the argument for existence of an Edomite state at least 200 years earlier than had been assumed.”

The evidence is also said to suggest that the Kingdom existed at the same time David, who scripture recounts as warring with Edom, was king over Israel.

"Christ taught us how to pray 'The Our Father'. Is this the only prayer you pray? Who taught you the others?"

Specifically word for word NO, however there was no 'hail Mary' here it was to the FATHER. I pray to the Heavenly Father the one who create all souls and in the name of Jesus Christ. Mary is not in that line.

The rest of your post totally lost me. Christ telling John to look after his mother was a very natural thing, and it was Peter, Christ told to establish His church as the bride not brother or sister.

The bride was to be a Virgin not worshiping another god.

I guess you have to be taught this idea that Mary is our 'mother' from childhood. Eve was told she was the mother of all living, because it was through her that Christ was to come. Why do you think the serpent/devil sought to destroy her?

I think the Jews who wrote the bulk of the Bible would have a disagreement on that...

" What I do not comprehend is how this translates to elevating Mary as a deity to be prayed to. "

Well now, IT DOESN'T. Mary is NOT a diety. Now that you know that perhaps you can grow in understanding the Church Christ founded and the respect shown His mother by Chirtians.

Any Bible centered man of God who is elevated to the rank, can serve as a Bishop... Timothy defines what a Bishop should be..

You are stumbling close to the truth here. The Virgin Mary is often seen as the New Eve. To the Mother of God was given the task of crushing the serpents head, just as Divine Prophecy said. She did this by being the "handmaid of the Lord" accepting her role in the Birth, life, death and Resurection of Our Lord. To deny her role is to deny the truth of the Holy Writ. To deliberately and blindly assert that asking others to pray for us is the same as worshiping them is to equally deny the truth. Are the many prayer threads on FR idolatry?

None of the other denominations had to pay out hundreds of millions in damages to the victims... That is on the record as a fact... So if there is we are missing extenuating circumstances in that these huge settlements which have bankrupted dioceses lets hear it...

Worshiping all those isn't correct, its the failure of the Church to adhere to the written word of the Bible is what the trouble is... i.e. they have been making up doctrine that is contrary to what can be documented by Biblical references..

Many other denominations have been sued and have paid out millions, but the get sued one by one, not as a Universal Church. The abuse of children in schools and families dwarfs that of the few hundred evil enemies of the Church who were infiltrated into the priesthood by the USSR. Are families and schools therefore evil?

You are a very poor thinker, at least based on your posts here.

"they have been making up doctrine that is contrary to what can be documented by Biblical references.."

False. And since you have been shown the falsehood of that slander, it is a knowing lie against the Christian Church.

Not ignoring any of those, I merely cited a reference in the book of 1 Timothy ch 3

1: This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2: A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3: Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4: One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5: (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6: Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7: Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8: Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9: Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10: And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11: Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12: Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13: For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14: These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Already posted. Redundant and nonresponsive. Those rules are not exclusive, other sections of the Bible amplify and clarify them, all in congruence with the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church.

Now, who is YOUR Bishop?

So you subject yourself to Bishop Sheen while he was alive? You accepted him as a successor to the Apostles?
