The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.

FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.

I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

Is there a fix for 'Crossbow bolt to the backside'?

Here's one I found in the back of my day book. It appealed to me much like the Red Leaf poem did.. AT DAY'S END

Is anybody happier because you passed his way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to him today?
The day is almost over, and its toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?

Did you waste the day, or lose it? Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say,
"You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today"?

I have a little Fiat project car that is currently sitting in storage in California. My husband keeps telling me to sell it and get another one, but the fact is my uncle has 6 cars here and that is really that LAST thing we need! There is an old Mustang in the garage and two mercedes, but I still have visions of my little fiat on the road. At this point, it's all a nightmare because I don't have time!!! :) It's one of the few things I haven't succeeded in doing yet. Maybe one day. Until then, I will just do the normal girly things. lol!

Okimhere, so glad you like the fall scenes with your poem - I loved the poem!

Tooters, did you want more bluebirds? LOL! The last one is one of my very favorite, and also one of the first ones my 'benefactor' - everyone's favorite wolfie - gave me! Too much fun being BillieBlue; thank you again, wolfie, for the nic and the birdies! A couple of these are from WVNan, who almost never says hello to me at the Finest without a bluebird. Hugs to you, Nan!

Unfortunately, my daily driver appears to be a permanent project car.
*chuckle*
It's radio burned the FM receiver out due to the antenna wire being bad.
So the car is strewn liberally with car parts inside.
*chuckle*
I'm no 'fast car' enthusiast.
My car goes fast enough for me, but i do like seeing fast cars and looing under teh hood.
And poking about under there to see what the designers did.
