I have visited this over the last 5 years on a daily basis and look to it as my main source of information, these days. My daughter is Leigh Nash lead singer for an incredibly successful, cutting-edge band that crossed over from Christian music to mainstream music. She is very conservative and the band has turned down some Democratic functions. They last played at the Gov. Rick Perry's (Texas) inaguration along with Robert Earl Keen and Clay Walker. Their music is very deep and spirtual based upon the works of C.S. Lewis, Thomas Merton, and occasionally a Socialist such as Pedro Neruda (forgive them please, for their naivate as they are all under 30). However, my daugher has many opportunities and is quite willing to express the conservative view point as she has been interviewed by David Letterman - where she changed the subject to a discussion of C.S. Lewis and the derivation of the name of the band. A simply incredible moment that I will never forget. The band has an huge fan base of people of various ilks, etc.; however, they also are targeted as are other "Christian bands" and even more so due to their high profile as having had a number one hit (Kiss Me)and a new album (44 out of 39 reviews on amazon.com are 5 stars)with unworldly lyrics that are so timely. From time to time, I would like to solicit your suggestions on certain topics with an effort to make the comments concise so that they can work for Leigh in her opportunities for sound bites, etc. The band was on Jay Leno a couple of months ago and will be on David Letterman this March.

I live in Gainesville, FL, where we have a lot of band activity. Has her group come down here?

Good Lord! She -- and the band -- are brilliant! Are they having trouble getting gigs? I'm sure thousands of FReepers are in a position to set them up with rapturous audiences (no religious pun intended -- I like them for their chops and your daughter's smooth voice) ... This is awful to hear, because they are so wonderful to hear. If the lack of gigs is the case, please FReepmail me! I have a thousand-seat venue they can sell out tomorrow!

"44 out of 39"? Huh?
Have no idea what to make of this post, but loved "Kiss me."

I hope you are not offended if I say I find your daughter very cute. Love the band's music and videos. Hope you and she find good ideas here.

Wow...never knew they were a christian band....the song "Kiss me" was a huge pop hit on it's own, and as the theme song for that cute teen movie(don't remember the name). Pretty cool..you have to be very proud.

Does your daughter know what the song "There She Goes" by the Las, which put your daughter's band on the map in America (since they did the cover version), does she know what the lyrics are about?
To: formershyfatboy
Wow... I have Divine Discontent in my cd changer. I love 'em.

How does one get
"44 out of 39 reviews on amazon.com are 5 stars)"?
And just what are you asking for? Isn't it better that your daughter, if you are who you say you are, speak from her own heart and mind?

Count me in too. Would a father be posting his daughter's pic at FReep?
Anyways, the song in question, "There She Goes" is about heroin. And it would be WEIRD for a bonafide conservative to sing a song about heroin. (But if one is a liberaltarian, np).

No more wine for me! I guess that should be 39 out of 44 reviews were 5 stars. Yes, I am very proud of the band. I am happy that you like the new record as I believe it is their best.
To: I_Love_My_Husband
The story is that in order to enhance their image as BAD, the LA's marketing people started the RUMOR that the song is about heroin. Please don't get your panties in a wad as it's just a rumor.
To: JennysCool
Thanks for the band! No they are not having trouble getting gigs. Quite the contrary and what an opportunity for getting in some zings once in a while. What I meant was that, as you all know, high profile artists are penalized by their conservative viewpoints. I would like for my daughter to have the best ammo possible - from you (some of you) brilliant people on FreeRepublic.
