We will not live in fear! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
In a departure from the normal characteristics of the shootings in the Washington area, a woman was gunned down by a single bullet at a Home Depot store located at Seven Corners in Falls Church, VA. If this is the sniper, it would be the first attack inside the Beltway.
Police found a white van in Baltimore with a high-power rifle, .223 ammunition, a sniper manual, and a sign on the front dashboard "Jihad in America."
In Florida, polling data shows Gov. Bush with the support of 48%, and McBride at 45%, with three weeks left till the election.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
...you have realized that ideas and actions have consequences...some of us understand this at some time or another... too many today never grasp this fundamental principle. The problem is not my choices, but society's choices. I've only gotten away with what society lets me get away with. Worse is that our culture encourages bad behavior, from cheating to divorce and promiscuity. Deviancy by definition is counter-culture, and its absorbtion into culture, as the Chairman pointed out, dumbs down culture, not the other way around.
I'm afraid more of the absence of consequence to bad behavior. What if medicine conquers AIDS, conception, and other behavior-induced disease such as lung cancer and cirrhosis? My guess is that humans would have to find something else to endanger themselves. It'd be like that movie, Groundhog Day.
Would traditional moral structures collapse? That is, does the bible tell us not to love the neighbor's wife because she might get pregnant? That's the answer from today's culture.
May the road ahead for your daughter ... and her Mom ... be filled with small miracles and lasting things ...
All ... just got in ... a busy day ... I was waiting in my truck at the bank window and counted ... 32 white contractor vans with ladder attachments crossing the intersection in front of the bank and right before the interstate. YIKES!
This "profiling" seems to be working ... "The schools are safe!"
BOOM!
"Well ... he does not strike at night ..."
BOOM!
Sigh ... this is realy nuts ....
But, responding to what you wrote just now, I do believe that the problem is your choices, and my choices, and our various friend's and children's choices.
All those decisions impact society, and vice-versa, but....maybe because I'm a conservative...these decisions start at home, early on....
As individuals, more and more we're not requiring accountablity, and society reflects this...
I used to have a liberal friend who was always ranting about society, and vague, unknowable forces making people do things...I like to avoid this way of thinking as much as possible, even when it suits MY agenda as in the case, which you've outlined so well.
I understand it's a 2 way-influencing street...but my control only extends so far, and maybe not even that much.
Our sons are young men now, and the idea of responsibility & limits was drummed into them from the beginning.
Because we loved them so much...
Would traditional moral structures collapse? That is, does the bible tell us not to love the neighbor's wife because she might get pregnant? That's the answer from today's culture.
Quite possibly. This reminds me of the fallacy of utilitarianism: that which is useful exemplifies the greatest good.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on this point, nic. Just think ...... 40 years ago, taking the family car out for a joy ride or sneaking off and drinking a beer was pretty scandalous behavior for most teens. Sure, there were "bad" kids who were into more serious stuff but for middle America that was behavior sure to set the town talking.
Nowadays, kids have to kill other kids or their teachers in school to get that kind of attention! Other forms of "misbehavior" have become acceptable ..... so the limits get pushed farther and farther out. And teens are always going to find those limits.
I went clothes shopping for my grandkids a few weeks ago. You wouldn't believe what's out there for 3-year-old girls to wear! It's so trashy looking ..... cut-outs in t-shirts, suggestive styles, sequins and glitter (on play clothes) ..... so much of it looked like what a street walker should be wearing. If they grow up with this, then the street walker looks normal.
But the stores are carrying this junk because mothers will buy it for their children. Not until adults start acting like adults again will there be changes. We have become afraid to say "no" to our children for fear they won't like us ...... Feh!
I know it's a much more complex problem than I'm stating but this is a part of it ... and the 8 dark years of the x42 occupancy of the White House only hurt .... those years of decadency, immorality, and illegality will have repercussions for many years to come.
Also ... and I really do not mean to complain ... but the 14 retired Ninja Warriors who have since taken up juggling ... were not at all cooperative ... *sigh* ... after strainin' my patience, they were ... though once I explained they were being sent to the lady filled with whimsey and steely resolve ... unbendable *faith* ... they became focused.
Took a great deal of *prayer* ... which continues ... to pull it all off.
But. You are more than worth the thoughts.
I would love to hear what others here think of this idea. Is it a violation of Posse Comitatus? Is it a Constiutional problem? Or were these the ravings of a certain segment of the members of FR?
ROFL! Now that's funny!
I am not proud of this.
I bought into the legend ...
It
didn't
work ...
Gotta run now for 'covered dinner with my adult study group'.....
Lysie, Mom & Dad are better......Jen is playing the waiting game :)
I must bow out of the technical aspect. At this moment, I don't know.
ISB...you be careful around those white trucks.
