Sounds like he was a natural dreamer and procrastinator...but still curious enough to want to begin things.

Oh Jim, so sorry to hear about his predicament. You and he have my prayers.

You are so right about Daley....when he walked in, people took notice, he really did carry an air of authority about him...
My dad used to make fun of him tho...when Daley got mad, he used to turn beet red, and had that big fat face, with jowls for cheeks...
My dad would watch Daley blow off steam on TV, and then dad would sit there and imitate him, trying to make himself turn red, and shake his cheeks like Daley did...
I remember well, that convention, and how it must have looked on TV, to people who lived outside of Chicago....it really did make the whole city look horrible, and it was so sad for us, because it was a city we had loved, and were proud of...
But those radicals were just totally out of control...throwing bags of urine and feces on the police and doing everything they could to hurt and intimidate the police...it really was quite awful...

Thanks Habs - 57 is way too young to leave this wonderful life. I appreciate it. God bless.

Will carry your BIL in my prayers...he is facing a very rough time, and so is his dear wife...
He , like us all, is in Gods good care, and God will provide what is needed, whatever that may be...
The shock of the diagnosis, and the prognosis, and the treatment, can at times seem almost too much to bear...
So hopefully, many kind thoughts and prayers, will be conveyed by you to him, and let him know, that we are all thinking of him, and sending our prayers for healing and comfort at this time...

As you so well know - our final chapter has been written. But it is never revealed until it is our time for it to be read to us.
Thank all of you for your good thoughts and prayers for my good friend and relative. God bless and keep you all.

The cops got so set up by Rubin and Hayden and Dellinger, and going after an old bull like Daley seemed dumb. That vitalis haircut, thin tie and shiny black suit made him seem from another generation, but he had no choice after a while. He was more like a longtime union boss than a Mayor.

You remember Bobby Hull?I have a story about him and his brother Dennis ;-)
To: habs4ever
Well, I never really followed Hockey, but do remember the pride Chicago always felt in Bobby Hull, he was our star player....tell the story...
To: andysandmikesmom
I have a distant relative who is the top player agent in hockey today, and told him a story about Dennis Hull years ago.Hull ran a hockey school on the grounds of a boys school, and one time, he was out on the ice by himself, with a bucket of pucks, firing rockets into an empty net.Hull, like his bro Bob, had a cannon of a shot, and a whole bunch of us began banging on the glass for Dennis to let one rip at us to give us a thrill. He ignored the cheers and pounding on the glass, until..he took off his glove and gave us the finger.
Well, he got booed for that.I told my cuz this story, and he thanked me for it.About a year later, he told me that Bobby was furious when told this story and made Dennis write a letter of apology to the school and do some community service as he was mortified that any former star would be so rude to kids that just wanted a thrill.I know, as i was shown the letter :-)Bobby Hull was one of the great ambassadors for the game and was never too big to have time for the fans and especially the kids. The Hawks were insane to let him go...but they haven't won since '61 ;-)My fondest Cup win is the Habs over the Hawks in '71 at the old Stadium..the organ, the noise, the heat, the long stair walk down the dressing rooms...That was hockey!

A most wonderful story Habs...you know, the sports players should always have time for the fans, and the kids...after all, were it not for the fans, the players would not have big, big salaries...
Sadly, today, it seems that for many of the top sports players, sports is first of all a business, and then comes love of the game, a far second...and thats truly so sad...
But glad to see that Bobby Hull was such a great guy, and such an ambassador to the fans, that he was so mortified by his brothes behavior, and whats more he did something about it...
Some of the sports players of today, should take note of the gentlemanly behavior and good will and love of the game, that was so evident in the sports stars of yesterday, and is often so obviously lacking in the sports stars of today...

Jean Beliveau retired 31 yrs ago, yet it probably the most revered ex-player in the public square today, and its because he has always been grateful for the indulgence of the fans wherever he goes.He is known around the world, which continues to suprise him, but the younger sports stars know of him, his legend, just as Johnny Unitas was an icon to so many. These men came from another era when their image meant so much to them and earning the respect of the paying fan was paramount.

When I was growing up, and we were always watching baseball, the Chicago Cubs, of course, our hero was Ernie Banks....a fine player, an even finer human being...he played for a team, that was always lousy, the Cubs lost more than they won, yet Ernie hung in there, encouraging us all to the all too familiar north side of Chicago chant 'Just you wait until next year'....
Ernie had the respect and love of all of Chicago, in a seemmingly fruitless quest to propell the Chicago Cubs to a pennant race...he did not whine about the Cubs always losing, he did not act like a star, he never made near the money that todays players make...
But he loved baseball, played like he loved baseball, and he loved the fans, and the fans loved him...I think that about says it all...

Well, my tootsies are beginning to throb again, the pain meds have worn off, time to take some more...and then pass out...I have no tolerance for most meds, so when I have to take them I often just fall asleep...
So, I suppose its time for me to go...Dizzy is standing in the hall, watching me, and I know, just trying to time his nagging meowing along with my decision to get off the computer..
After all the kitty cat must have his personal attention and lots of kitty snacks, along with the obligatory kitty praise, about what a handsome and delightful fellow he is...my goodness, how we spoil our furry children...
Nitey nite all, see ya all tomorrow...

Good morning! A cloudy, drizzly day here..perfect weather for having a protest in DC, thunderstorms are in the forecast for this afternoon.
I understand that there have already been about 30 arrests. These freaks call themselves the "Anti-Capitalist Convergence" and so far it doesn't seem like they've shut down the city. ;-)

Matthew is adorable. He looks like Carnac the Magnificent with the turban..lol
